Free-feeding & Zooplus

Hi guys
I hope you have a minute for me.
I have an 11 year old beauty who's always been on free-feeding. The reason is quite simple. You can't say no to someone sooooo purrfect.
I've read tons of threads saying it's not good, but Penelope really is special. She knows where to stop. She doesn't eat all the time, maybe 4-5 times a day. And only small amounts. Her only bad habit is that when she sees us giving food to the birds and squirrels she runs in the house right away, checks if everything is fine with her stuff and eats a bit just to calm down...(i've got no clue what she expects..)
Anyway, she is healthy, playful and happy this way. I don't want to force her to be vulnerable just because of some nonsense but also I don't want to cause any health problem or else.
I know I have to rotate her food more often but I always have at least 10-12 kinds of food including dry(not too much), wet(mostly) and snacks, treats and malt creams. She only eats like 3-4 kinds a day so her digestive system doesn't get too exhausted.
Any advice? Suggestions?

Oh and one more thing. I've just received my latest order from zooplus and everything was perfect, although it looked kinda messy at first. Ordered on friday, so the delivery speed was great as well(today's tues). I've read so many horrors about zooplus packaging but I always received my parcels in good condition. Hope my good luck will last long

Re: Free-feeding & Zooplus

As long as she regulates herself I see no problem with free feeding, all of mine currently are - we only started this when we got the girls (kittens) and I was worried the boys would stuff themselves silly but they don't, so we've carried on.

In fact (although she was trying to sell me RC dry food at the time) one of the more annoying vet nurses I've come across agreed that cat's should be allowed to eat small and as often as they like as they wouldn't eat two meals a day in the wild, so it's more natural for them.

As for your ZP parcel, that's some *cough* impressive packing skills they're showing!

Re: Free-feeding & Zooplus

Hi and welcome to the madhouse .As Dante has said cats do seem to preferr little and often which is what they would do if left to nature. My Raggie is fed 5/6 times a day as he will only eat a small amount at a time and is too fussy to go back and eat it after an hour or two My fault I suppose but I dont mind.
I think with the variety of food you have she will be doing very well, and you are right ,who could say no to such a gorgeous lady

Re: Free-feeding & Zooplus

Thank you so much for your help! What a relief...

I have one more question if you don't mind... two actually..

Penelope really likes the sauce or gravy in her food. Many times she only licks it off the meat and leaves the rest. Can you tell me which brand has the 'graviest' stuff? The green canned Hi Life is a hit(there is no other acceptable breakfast for her) but I don't want to give her the same gravy every or at least most of the days. I haven't find anything else like it.

Also, is there any vegetable cats particularly like? Penelope likes sweet potato and sweet corn and eats cat grass quite often. Is the sweet corn liquid bad for her? Because that's something she can go mad for which is really rare.

Sorry about the novel... I am new as you can see and trying to gather all the information I missed.
