Need help with new cats!
Hi,
I'm new on this forum. I adopted 2 cats at the weekend (a mum & son) and I would just like some advice on some health issues. The mum has had diarrhea with a lot of blood (she had this before I got her)- I took her to the vets and they have prescribed some antibiotics & told me to keep her on a diet of chicken & rice. The problem is she is already very underweight & she won't touch the bland diet. I have tried cooking the chicken in stock to give it more flavour but she has no interest. I am worried about her not eating because she is so skinny. Also her son (who is fairly skinny too) is a greedy little thing & so polishes off any food before she gets a chance. How do I get her to eat chicken & rice.. or is there any wet cat food that is as gentle on stomaches as chicken & rice? Any advice much appreciated ![]() |

Re: Need help with new cats!
Hi gemma.....have the vets given an indication of WHY she has this bloody diarrhoea?
Diet wise.....Hills do a Wet feline sensitivity food which comes in single serve pouches and seems to be pretty palatable, most vets will stock this food and will agree it is a good alternative to plain boiled chicken. |

Re: Need help with new cats!
Thanks for the replies. I reposted this in the health forum as I realised this was the wrong place!
Vets aren't sure what the problem is but since she's been treated for all worms they have antibiotics just to be safe. I am about to do a Zooplus order so will add the recommended foods. Thank you for the help! |

Animed - Search Results
I found this stuff to be marvellous with Millie's runny bum, much more effective than Prokolin. Of course it will only offer symptomatic relief if there is an underlying infection/parasite, but it saves cleaning pooey bums so gets a vote from me! |

Re: Need help with new cats!
Despite the claims, Zooplus prices are virtually double what you'd pay at the vets and online in UK. I would just get a few tins from the vet firstly instead of bulk ordering. You need to ensure she'll eat it firstly.
