male/female traits

Hi , We havent had our first male kitten for that long now, but as all my other cats are female im beginning to notice a difference in how he behaves as to how the girls did.I know lots of it is down to each cats individual personality but would be interested to hear from what anyone else thinks the main differences are ( not physically lol). I would say up till now he is more soppy than the females were and up for cuddles more , hope that continues .x

Re: male/female traits

I've definitely found a difference between boys and girls. At the moment I've got two boys, one of them (Jazz) is the soppiest, campest little cat going; Hobbes likes affection, but can get into proper little Old Man grumpy strops . They're both Mummy's Boys in their own different ways.

The girls that I've had have all been very girly - dainty, flirty, agile little things that weren't as fussed for mega cuddle time as much as my boys.

Obviously all cats are different, but I was very surprised in the difference in personality between genders when compared to dogs.

Re: male/female traits

ive got 2 boys, and my sisters has a girl not much older than them, she is a lot more independent than the boys, shes not so much affectionate, but can be at times whilst these two will come to me every chance possible, mainly shadow, but she will go up to anyone and meet them, whilst these are scared of everyone except me, and will run away if anyone tries to get them

Re: male/female traits

I've got 4 boys and they are all very different from each other. I cant think of a single characteristic which they all share. The females i have owned in the past have both been much more vocal than any of the males, perhaps thats a trait?

Re: male/female traits

Both my girls are far more cuddly than my boy - he's sweet but he doesn't do cuddles very often whereas you can guarantee at least 10 a day for each of the girls!

Re: male/female traits

apart from my very first cat, Missy, all my male cats have been soppier than the female ones. the girls were still affectionate, but on their terms - i could scoop Freddy up mid-poo and i think he would start purring and enjoy the fuss! lol

i won't be trying that btw....lmao

Re: male/female traits

I've not had any male cats for a while now but I have two people who have had kittens from me - one had a girl from me first but then had two boys because they are more cuddly, the other has one girl of mine and wants two more because girls are more friendly (she has an older boy from elsewhere) It just goes to show that not only are all cats different but their owners are too.
My girls are all over me like a rash - can't sit down without one or the other or even both on my knee _ I'm sure my laptop must be clogged up with cat hair

Watch out for that - mine overheated and I almost lost my hard drive because of this. When the computer techie gave it back to me he said he'd never seen so much fur inside a laptop!

Re: male/female traits

Archie is more affectionate than Ella. Ella is more vocal. Ella loves going out, Archie is often not bothered or will cry to come back in after five mins

Re: male/female traits

Our boy is very vocal, very friendly, will talk to anyone and loves a cuddle, is happy to be picked up and carried around. However he is very strong willed and will bite if he doesn't get what he wants, he just walks up and bites the back of my leg, backs away, then does it again. I have holes in my leg.You do not ever go for a tummy rub if you value your arm. He likes to go for walks with me, he folllows along behind.
He is easy to put in a carrier, just pick him up and pop him in.

Our girl is a sweet, cuddly little sweetie. She is also chatty, and will jump on my lap whenever she can for a cuddle. She will either hiss at our lad, or completely ignore him. And, she sulks. She is very gentle and I can turn her on her back in my arms and rub her tummy. She will not co-operate with being put in a carrier although I did manage to pop her into the Tbag for the last vet trip, I think it caught her by surprise as it looks like a shopping trolley
