Kittens often do this! What kind of litter is it? It's best if you don't use the clumping clay kind.

Re: eating cat litter and being sick

if they r eating litter dont use clumping, it will clump inside them and that can lead to a very big vet bill and the horrible things that come with it.....

I think Oko Plus is clumping, time to see the vet I think!

I've always used woodchip, and I thought they were trying to eat it once, but not done it since. Didn't seem to cause any problems.

Woodchip is great, it smells good, and when wet it dissolves and sticks to the poo! This also means you can easily flush the poos down the loo!

Re: eating cat litter and being sick

If the runs and sickness dont stop maybe get her checked over at the vets.

I used to just use morrisons or asdas cheap cat litter but then when she started to eat it i changed to wood and found it alot better, not much smell comes off it either which is a bonus, more expensive but worth it i think. Never flushed it, i should try it sometime will save me on black bags haha.

We flush the poos with small amounts of litter, but bin the rest of it when it's time to change the tray

Re: eating cat litter and being sick

I'd get her to the vet and, if it's just a bad habit she has, you could always, as a last ditch effort, change to World's Best or chick crumbs. They're just made of corn so, while not nutritious they at least won't cause harmful clumps inside the cat.

Re: eating cat litter and being sick

How many cats have you got and how many cat litter trays?

Do your cats all sleep together?

From looking at what they do during the day can you perhaps not see which kitty it is who is taking a fancy to eating the cat lit.?
