Smile Opinions/Advice needed

I currently have an 8 month old kitten. We rent a 2-bed mid link terrace house of average size, so we don't have a cat flap and have decided to keep Georgie as an indoor cat otherwise she would have to be out all day and I wouldn't be comfortable with that. She gets plenty of exercise though and is in a very good and happy condition. However, we are considering getting another cat, partly for her to have company and because we love them so much. It would also have to be an indoor cat. Do you think our house is too small for 2 indoor cats? I know it is hard to tell without pictures but any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Question Re: Opinions/Advice needed

Thanks! As I mentioned, Georgie is 8 months old. Do you think we would be better off trying to get a kitten of similar age or a young kitten, so that maybe she feels less threatened and possibly more protective over?

Re: Opinions/Advice needed

It's really hard to say how ANY cat will react to another. Every introduction is different.

We have had Manny for just over 2 months now, Molly was 14 months old and he was 5 months.

Was probably easier to introduce a kitten, as I think Molly felt less threatened by him. It's certainly been Molly that's been the harder work

I think as long as you do the introductions carefully .... there are lots of threads on here about how to do that ..... then things should go ok

Re: Opinions/Advice needed

Take into account that Georgie is still a kitten so may be too boisterous with an elderly cat. I would personally get a kitten younger or the same age, so they have the same high energy and can be playmates

Re: Opinions/Advice needed

We live in 1 bed flat.. so 2 rooms.. before we decided to get another cat i had the same problem, wasn't sure if 2 rooms will be enough for them.. i always knew my cats will be strictly indoors. Someone in this forum said to me.. 1 room per cat, so that was enough for me
We got Dennis when Charlie was 5 months.. Dennis back then was just under 3 months.. They got on straight away. As Dennis was younger i believe Charlie felt like he is the mature one and was kind of caring he was the one who made the first move by poking Dennis in his head lol

so yes.. definitely enough room for 2 indoor cats n i would go for younger kitten ) keep us updated xx

Thanks everyone. Only been on here less than 24 hours and I've had so much help already! So do you guys have separate litter trays? And if we get a slightly older kitten, about 5 months, if they have been outside, will they hate me if they come to me and we keep them inside? Thanks again, can't wait now! Thought it would be difficult to persuade my partner to get another but he is all up for it!

Try to get one that's not been outside yet. Most kittens aren't neutered until 6 months so should be quite easy to find one that's stayed in

Re: Opinions/Advice needed

We have 2 litter trays, I think the 'normal' thing is a litter tray per cat plus one extra ..... but I've had no problems with just the 2, and tbh the 2nd litter tray is only used by Manny for the occassional poo!

As for keeping the new one inside, at 5 months, he/she really shouldn't be outside just yet anyway. I personally dont think they miss the outside, as long as you have plenty of toys inside for them, and obviously they will have each other to play with, they will be just fine.
