My cat caught a bird yesterday.

Neo is 10 years old and has never caught a bird, untill yesterday. Fortunately the bird she has never developed her hunting skills property. She jumped in through the window with the bird in her mouth. Simba, her brother, approached her. As he approached, Neo turned to hiss at him. This meant that she would have drop the bird. As soon as she dropped it, the bird flew straight of the window and landed in a nearby none worse for its ordeal. Neo looked towards the window in puzzlement. Daft cat.

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

I wish Mika had never developed her hunting skills. She is forever trying to catch birds, and when she does, she brings them to mummy all impressed. She little a bugger.

She did once bring one in, like your cat, in her mouth still alive fortunately. OH took it off her and put the bird in the bedroom for 5 mins and then released. Seemed okay.

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

Good thing she's rubbish at hunting, the bird will be a bit more careful next time!

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

Thomas our dearly departed tabby was a hunter....

He brought us birds, mice, voles, toads, frogs, rats even a squirrel once.

Although the most disconcerting was when he put a live mole in my bed

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

My lot are too clumsy and excitable to ever catch birds (tho' #1 cat Bola specializes in frogs) but that's not to say I never have a bird brought into the house. Dexter from next door is a superb little hunter, which is all well and good, but he invariably makes a dash for my flap each time he catches one

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

Suki brings us mice and birds and then plays with them when they are still alive, poor little creatures!

She's alsways so proud and happy when she brings a present for us!

Re: My cat caught a bird yesterday.

Max is a hunter, but he finds it more fun to hide the presents somewhere so we get a surprise, like in the washing basket. Or if he's feeling particularly energetic he will shred the body and carefully decorate the flower so we have a nice body part, feather, fur mosiac to see when we come in.
