Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

..........came a young and in season cat from across the road She's being pestered mercilessly by up to half a dozen toms atm and they're making her life a misery. Uber annoyingly, one of the toms is from the same house as her, which beggars belief.

Her owners treat her for fleas, etc, this I know as the son once knocked on my door with Frontline in hand, asking if I'd seen her recently, so why in Gods name don't they get both cats neutered as well? She'd had one litter that I know of, but when asking the son how they were doing was told "they'd just *disappeared*, and I'm pretty sure I know what that means.

I've left her in the kitchen to get her breath back and chased all the toms away, but it's only putting the inevitable off temporarily because as soon as she goes back outside...........

Re: Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

She's a lovely little cat and when I say little I mean exactly that, which makes it all seem worse.

I forget if it was yesterday or Monday, but judging by the amount of toms either sat on the garden fence or at the bottom of the fir tree in my back garden, she was hiding there for hours on end. Luckily they couldn't climb after her, it's too dense, but hiding like that is no sort of a life, and it's not the first time she's found shelter there.

Bless her. Have you said anything about it to the owners?

Re: Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

I used to see her owner quite regularly at one time, but it's many months since we last spoke. When they first got this cat I was told she would be kept as a house cat as they'd recently lost one to suspected a********e poisoning. (most likely another victim of the barsteward who poisoned the fabulous and much missed Beckett)

I don't know why they let her out as she was kept in initially, I often saw her sat on various windowsills over there.

Re: Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

She's welcome to shelter here, but that's definitely as far as I'll go. At one point I had thought about offering to pay to have her spayed, but I couldn't afford that now, plus the husband/boyfriend is working, drives and they've now taken on a dog, so money will be no excuse for not having her spayed.

As for being petrified, I doubt that as she's one feisty little madam, but she must get tired of fighting off all the attention she's getting atm. All my lot are scared of her, so much they won't use the flap to come in/go out if she's sat on my back doorstep.

Re: Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

I've just found her hiding up the fir tree again tho' I wouldn't have known she was there if it wasn't for all the noise 3 toms were making. She came down when she saw me and I've given her a bit to eat, a catch 22 situation as if she's not going home at night she won't be getting fed, but coming down leaves her open to the 3 toms advances.

Re: Bolting thro' the flap just now.........

That they're not I can only put down to ignorance on their part. What baffles me most is after to speaking to her owner about cats in general, she seemed a genuine cat lover, so to let this situation happen at all is mystifying
