soooooooooooooo happy

I finally convinced a very good friend to take the ferral cat (the one that has been in a cage for almost a year and is very very angry). I canīt be happier, she is a close friend of mine and one of the three people that I would have trusted. We will be collecting her next month in our visit. Canīt thank all of you enough for your advice. Itīs going to be a long process till she lets anyone near her but itīs a start. The only problem is that she has 3 dogs but atleast she is going to be kept in a room on her own. Any more advice, greatly appreciated especially from owners of ferocious dogs who live with cats.

Excellent news! It's always so uplifting when a "problem" pet finally finds a home.

Re: soooooooooooooo happy

Letīs keep our fingers and paws crossed, she will have to be for a while in the cage till she gains her trust and she can move round the room. You dont know how relieved I am and especially with this girl who like me gives her pets the best. I hope the dogs accept so she can move round the house with time. Any advice on how to make the transition easier is more than welcome.

The only thing I can think of without the dogs getting up close to the crate is to put a baby gate on the door of the room she is in then the dogs & see, smell her from a distance & she can do the same & a Feliway plug in to. I would leave the gate up for a while once she is out of the crate to

I knooooooooooooooooow, canīt stop smilling, meanwhile Iīve quickly ordered felliway from zooplus. The cat doesnīt eat wet food but we hope to introduce her to that too once she accepts that humans are her friend.

Re: soooooooooooooo happy

Maybe swapping bedding between the dogs and the cat when she is in residence may help?

Well done you.

Re: soooooooooooooo happy

Thanks, I called the lady at the shelter and she was ever so happy. Although this search has made me realize just how difficult it is to get homes for cats. Iīve run out of friends with possibilities. I just hope itīs a happy ending because if it goes well, my friend says it would be her forever home

Re: soooooooooooooo happy

Brilliant News!!! I'm so please your friend is gonna give her a home and give her a chance to trust someone and come out of her shell. I'm really pleased. I would agree that scent swapping is a good place to start. Wishing them the best of luck!!!
