Question Cat Fountains

All,

Need a bit of advice please..... Alfie currently has a plastic water fountain but is suffering a little with what we think is cat acne (little black flakes and dry skin on his chin) we have asked the vets advice... for what good that did... she tried to tell me it was flea dirts. Ermmm excuse me.... I'm not an idiot I know what flea dirts are, imagine my smirk when she did the "get them wet" test and discovered they weren't.

Anyways.. got off track a little there.. I'm looking to get him a ceramic or stainless steel one and have found a few but obviously they are expensive so just wanted to see if any PF members had a ceramic/steel one and could offer some advice.

These are the two we've found so far. If anyone has any experience with them they'd care to share it would be appreciated.

Re: Cat Fountains

They look very expensive (more design over function) we have the Drinkwell Platinum for our two Maine Coons, and thay love it. Very easy to clean and quite cheap on Amazon at the mo.

Dexter has a dose of Cat Acne too. It does look like flea droppings, but any decent vet should spot it instantly. Not so easy to get rid of though.

Re: Cat Fountains

We currently have a plastic cat it one... but just like plastic bowls it can harbour germs etc and cause the acne.

Trying to find a good stainless steel or ceramic one and because they are a little more expensive just wanted to see if any pf members have one.

Is the drinkwell one plastic?I can'r seem to find any details that tell me what material it's made from.

Re: Cat Fountains

The Drinkwell one is also plastic - I just had a look on Zooplus and checked the PDF document on it.
I don't have experience of either but the ceramic one sounds good - no filters to replace and you can wash it easily too.

Re: Cat Fountains

I really like the Lucky Kitty one, mine is plastic. The ceramic one looks like it wouldn't spill much
