Introducing Sybil and Freckle

I've seen such great intros here recently - Molly and Manny, Rosie and Oscar, Abby and McGee and more. How long total did the intro take until you were confident to leave them together unsupervised?

Or... Guesses on how long it will take to introduce one slightly spoilt and haughty 5kg Ocicat neuter (goes by Freckle and turns 2 at the end of March) to our new feline family member?

I picked up a little Selkirk Rex girl last week and it turns out she is 7 months old (we thought 5 initially). Sybil is such a doll, plush like a toy, teeny tiny (2.45kg), has the biggest purr and all she wants to do is be stroked and play. Couldn't have made a better snap decision Pics will follow...

Introductions with Bloo (Freckle's brother) were a dream. He is very comfortable with her and lets her sniff him, play with his tail and doesn't say a word. Not combined playing or grooming yet, but will be very soon

She's so confident; keen to see this other brother and have full run of the house. Freckle has been very slowly introduced and we are now at the stage where he can be about 1 or 2 metres away, distracted with treats or play and he is fine. Some soft growls if not distracted but you can tell he is warily accepting. We do try to keep him at a greater distance which means he can observe and relax, but he is fairly curious about her.

I'm feeling super grateful towards all three kitties that we've made this much progress in six short days but curious about how long it may take in total

aww congratulations, cant wait for pics, i think all cats are different, some accept quicker than others,.i didnt think Dizzy would warm to the two terrors, but here they are, all laying side by side on the settee, she even washes Dazzle.

Re: Introducing Sybil and Freckle

Here is the cute little girl

Freckle is getting better with her each and every day She loves to sneak up on him and get a quick sniff before he realises and has now taken to bolting past him and deliberately rubbing against him as she goes

Re: Introducing Sybil and Freckle

Well it's 2 1/2 months down the line for us. I think we now have total acceptance we are a 2 cat household. It's only in the last 2 weeks, that Molly and Manny have had to be left alone for any length of time, have to admit I was a bit worried, but no problems what-so-ever.

Manny in particular always wants to know where Molly is, and will plonk himself down in front of her and almost demand to be groomed, which most of the time she will do. They still have their spats, though Manny is as big as Molly now, so it's more a chasing game than a rough and tumble!!

I would say Molly is still the more dominant, though I think that's a woman thing Manny is definately the more jealous!! God forbid you give Molly attention and not him

All in all I think we have been very lucky

Aw Sybil is gorgeous!!!
I think I was also lucky as I left them almost straight away! I'd got a few days off work when she first came and monitored them both, I knew Oscar deffo wouldn't hurt her but was a bit unsure the other way round!
When I did go back to work after about 2 days I went confident they would be fine and luckily they were! Hope yours are good buddy's soon x

Re: Introducing Sybil and Freckle

Abby & the OAP's were left together, unattended, after about 7 days. We popped to the shops for an hour and there was no blood or fur when we got back so we left them the next day for a bit longer and all was well so we went to work on day 9 and left them all to it.

They were all fine.

Abby & McGee were playing with each other after day 10 - when she decided that having a chum was better than hissing at him. The OAP's again were a bit slower at coming round but were ok by about day 10. As in, no killing!!!

Now, after 3 months, everything is brilliant!! The kittens play and the OAP's sometimes join in!

Sybil is a little cutie!!!

Re: Introducing Sybil and Freckle

Aww they do look sweet together
2.5 months is good - I initially thought about 3 months should do the trick for us. I was just lucky that Bloo has been so accepting from the start.

And our boys have always been happy together:

I can't wait to see all three of them snuggled up!

I just feel a little bad that she has to spend the day in her safe room when she can hear the boys roaming the house. I could leave Bloo in with her for the day, but then Freckle will sulk...

The good news is that all three will use the same litter tray, so they are fairly accepting of each others scents. Freckle has stopped growling at her scent if she isn't there and they can all eat treats together nicely but I think we've got a while before they can be alone together or sleep in the same bed.
