My kitten is nearly 12 weeks old. Please can you tell me if it's normal for him to poo about 4 times a day?

Re: Random question

Hi,

Is the poop solid???

Has she been wormed properly...by that i mean every 2 weeks till 12 weeks?...it is important that kittens follow a strict worming programme till 12 weeks....this may be the reason...other then that it just may be normal for that kitten.

Re: Random question

He had worms when i got him, and now is under strict instructions from the vet re worming. He was wormed 2 weeks ago and the vet that that's fine till he sees him in another 2 weeks for his 3nd jab, by which time he will be 14 weeks.
The poo is solid and he seems perfectly happy.
Maybe this is just normal for him?

Also what is the best way to get him onto other foods? A liitle now and then to get his stomach used to it?

Re: Random question

Hi,

Oh good so you can rule worms out...its probably just normal for the lil guy and may become less frequent as he grows older.

Introducing new foods like yo say should just be gradual. I know i gave myu kitten too much chicken a couple of years ago and they had a poorley tummy for a while so best just a little at a time.

Re: Random question

Waffles poops around the clock I wouldn't worry.

If you want to introduce new food then just mix a bit of the old in with the new and gradually fade out the old food. I once stopped Waffles food abruptly and went onto new food and she got a really upset stomach so that is a definite no no.
