How much to pay for a moggie?

How much would you expect to pay for a non-pedigree kitten? I have been looking at some of the ads and they seem to range from £10 to £90!

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

I hate it that some people charge more for 'unusual markings or different colours'
If looking for a moggy I'd go to a rescue but privately wouldn't consider paying more than £30

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

I bought Martha from a petshop, big mistake I know now but didn't then.

I paid £80 for her, the pet shop rang me the second her litter came in and I went down so she was only in the shop for about a hour. I got her with a litter tray, litter, food, weaning products and a scratching post. Most of it was useless but I love her to bits.

I paid £50 for winter.

I paid £30 for Todd, who came to me neutered.

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

Thank you for your replies. I thought the prices were a bit bizarre! Unusual markings = £90!

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

I'd only get a mog from a rescue. I paid £45 per cat and they came neutered. Had their first vaccination and I had to take them for the second one in the course a week after I had them and they provided a voucher for that.

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

Round here they also range from £15 - £100 depending on markings but also on availability, the more on the market the cheaper they are. It goes in phases.

Re: How much to pay for a moggie?

i got my two for free, from one of my sisters friends, dont really trust adds online, i would have gone to a shelter and got kittens, but i went to visit the womans kittens and just fell in love with them, would have taken all four if i could, but two is enough lol, id never get a kitten from a post online tho, my friend did this and later found out her kitten had feline leukeamia or something similar passed on from the mother and it was revealed that the seller knew the mum had the illness and never mentioned it cause she wanted an extra 25 quid!

That is rather what I am afraid of, to be honest, that they could have some awful disease. Wood Green want £70 adoption fee for a cat. Thanks for your replies.
