Cat astray

Anyone know much about how long is normal for cats to go on the missing?
My cat went out tuesday so this makes night 3 and has not returned since, not even to eat,
not to sure if i should be concernd or not as i only recently moved him to the house from the old house, area is surrounded by wood land and fields so im worried about fox's, maybe he could have been caught by one? iv looked for him and have not found any trace yet...what do people think ?

Re: Cat astray

look at the missing caat sticky at the top of the page - and follow it.

how many times has the cat been out in this house? and do let the people at your old house have a poster/photo because it may well be heading there.
good luck.

Re: Cat astray

He may have returned to ur old house, is that possible? If so pop back and see and ask about. My friends cat wonders for days she says he only comes back for a treat. Hope the cat turns up. keep us informed.

Re: Cat astray

Thats excellent news ,I agree with Oscars mam keep him in for at least 4/6 weeks this time as there is every chance that he will just try to get back to where he thinks home is.

Re: Cat astray

Good to know you found him!!!

I always keep my cats in for at least 6 weeks, beofre they are allowed out. And these are rescue cats, who have been away from their last home for quite a while, and you wouldn't expect them to want to run back to the rescue....

But still, the cat has to get thoroughly at home, and been given time to forget about his former home as 'home'. And as a cat is a territorial animal, that will take quite some time.

Keep him indoors for at least 6 weeks, or built him a cat-proofed garden or run so he can go out but can't stray. Would be safer in view of predators, too, if you are way out in the countryside.
