coleo as been in cage and got another gerbil some how and killed it, how do i get the poor thing off of him. also punishment ideas?

You cant really punish him as he is just doing what is natural..

I have never tried to get a kill off our moggie as what ever he catches is pretty much dead straight away! Is the gerbil dead or still alive?

oh dear...... im afraid cats will be cats.. best to make sure the little gerbils are well out of reach

You will have to find somewhere to put them where the cats cant reach.

my cats are pretty good climbers thats the problem x

Afraid to say it hun but it's gonna keep happening, unless you have them in a room where the cats are shut out of you will have no chance of keeping the others alive x

Cats are natural predators and will want to kill anything mouse/gerbil or whatever rodent it is x

perhaps it would be best not to get anymore if you don't want the heartbreak xx

i wont be wanting to rehome pigs as he thinks there toys too now, hes fine with rabbit x

You can't punish your cat for doing what cats do!! Also any punishment needs to be given at the time not afterwards otherwise the cat will have no idea what its done wrong! The only way you can stop this is to shut your gerbils in a room where the cats don't go.

Have u got another room where u can put ther gerbils ? - and not let the cats go in there - x
