Out of pure curiousity...

How many of you have cat runs/catteries in your garden?

Pictures always welcome, I'd be interested to see!

What made you decide to build one?

because i just dont like the fact of keeping a cat completly inside, because its not that much space for a big cat like he is going to be- but i dont like the idea of having my beautiful furbaby roaming on his own!

Re: Out of pure curiousity...

Originally we had a free range cat, accident prone and always being damaged in some way when he came home. He was already minus his tail when he came to us. He would fall in streams, get caught in barbed wire fences, bash his head on rusty metal and cut it open, slip off roofs.......he would go up to anyone and say hello, get into vans and on trailers.

When someone bought the land along the lane and began demolishing the old farm buildings to make way for a new house we stopped letting him out as he would have been hurt, run over, stolen or got into a van and been driven away.

We bought aviary panels and built them around the back door so he could be in or out.
