Talking Welcome, Jumpy!

Say Hi to Treacle's younger (adoptive) brother, Jumpy!! A silver spotted tabby!

They could pass for real brothers, but they're not! The neighbour of a friend was urgently looking to rehome him, as she had just had a baby and he would jump up at the smell of her milk, and seemed jealous of the baby! So we first met him on 23rd December, but couldn't take him home then, as we had no room with all the Christmas stuff. However, we now have space in his 'safe-room' (the kitchen), so he came home yesterday!! Treacle could not be happier to be a big brother, as he was born around lots of cats, but Jumpy spent most of yesterday growling at him!! So proud of Treacle though - he just took all the growls, made some friendly noises, then lay down to show friendliness!!

Then the boys had a lively playfight in the evening, but this morning seemed much more relaxed around one another, and kissed each other on the nose!! Just like blood brothers!!! (They had spent the night in separate rooms, of course!!)

I've discovered the answer lies in keeping Jumpy's food, water and tray in a separate room and shutting him in there for some quiet time when he wants to be alone! Works great!

Re: Welcome, Jumpy!

Thanks! He is gorgeous! I think he may have British Shorthair in him, he's a similar shape and likes his independence. Likes to sleep a lot, and he sometimes stands up on his haunches like I've seen in pics of British shorthairs!! Always wanted one, so that is fab!!! He has a mighty growl for such a little guy, but his bark's worse than his bite!! (Where Treacle was born, there lived an adult British Blue who had the same ferocious growl! Yet Treacle isn't phased by his noises!!)

Amazingly though, both he and Treacle love running water and enjoy drinking from the dripping tap and even sticking their heads underneath to get wet!! Good thing they already have a water fountain in the kitchen!!!

Re: Welcome, Jumpy!

Thanks everyone! I'm at work right now, but just phoned home and my parents say they are getting on great!!! Been playing all morning and then they both decided to take a lunch break at the same time!! Treacle went into the dining room and had some of his food, and Jumpy went into the kitchen and had his - almost as if they'd made a silent agreement to eat at that time!!!
