"Complete food" written on cat food pouches.
I realise most of you know this, but it doesn't mean that one pouch is enough for all day. You have to read the feeding guide - depending on the product, 3-4 pouches is usually recommended if the cat doesn't also eat dry food.
The reason I'm posting this is because I met a woman in Sainsbury's who didn't realise she needed to feed her cat more than one pouch a day. She took "This is a complete food for cats" or similar wording to mean "You can feed your cat just this and it's enough". And Felix have gone and put something even more misleading on their packets - "Contains everything your cat needs" or similar wording. On one pouch. So clearly not accurate.

Re: "Complete food" written on cat food pouches.
I actually quite like Felix's "Contains everything your cat needs" instead of the "complete" as it makes it clearer as to what "complete" stands for. And that woman; I guess it takes all kinds. But feeding guidelines are printed on all boxes, containers, tins etc so this type of ignorance is imo inexcusable.
Good on you for setting her straight. Poor little cat. |

Re: "Complete food" written on cat food pouches.
Just looked at one of my Applaws tins (used as occasional treat) and on one side it says that 1 tin provides the daily requirements on an average weight cat and on the other side it says it's a complementary food! No wonder people are confused!
