Hi Everyone,

Happy new to all of you, my first post here! I got two kittens yesterday. Just wanted to know that is it alright to clip cat's nails at 2 months old?

Re: Cat Nails...

I would say in my opinion there's no harm trying if they will let you. Read up about it and look at some pIctures first, you have to know where to stop so you dont cut the vein. Just try taking the very tips off.
Start off when they are singling on you just gently feeling the pads to expose the nail. Get them used go this first before you do anything.

Are they going to be house cats? Of course as they are kittens it roll be next Christmas before they could go outside anyway. If you do intend to glee them out at the end of the year make sure you don't trim the nails a long time before they go out. They need all their natural resources to survive out there

Re: Cat Nails...

Yeah i looked up some pics and guides! Just wanted to know is it ok. Coz after all scratching and stuff are all part of its growing up cycle!

They would be primarily house cats! They would be going out and play, when they get a bit older. I wont let them leave the house permanently.

I wouldn't let them go outside at all till they are one year old. It's just not safe. I'd probably not trim nails for the 6 mths before going out. They need them sharp

Re: Cat Nails...

Don't want to start a new thread.... But i am a little concerned about one of my cat's eating habit. It hardly seems to eat at all. Be it cat food or milk. Its very little in one sitting. But from his behavior it does not seem that it is hungry. Its jumps around, plays with the other kitten, fights, runs around and all the stuff a kitten is supposed to do.

Re: Cat Nails...

I've found with my pair, they will let you know when they've had enough, so normally 2 or more sessions are needed per cat (I'm currently 2 and a bit paws into Odin's latest nail clippping, and 1 and bit into Oslo's). By not forcing the issue, and playing with thier feet a bit whenever they are snuggling with me, they are getting more tolerant (only reason more of Oslo's weren't done was Odin kept trying to chew on the nail clippers).
