worm and flea treatments

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a very Happy New Year 2012.

Can someone please tell me what is safe together both flea and worm treatments for cats. My baby is 9 months old and I want to get him treated he is an indoor cat but I still like to take precautions I have a vet but not confident in her at the moment.

I want to treat samson for both flea and worm treatments.

Many thanks everyone

Marie

Drontal or Milebex for worms and Advantage, Frontline, or Advocate for fleas

Thanks you've put my mind at rest we do have a vet but she seems all over the place samson was wormed when we got him from the breeder but the vet decided to worm him again 4 weeks later so i haven't been back since good job samson is a very healthy cat and has not give us any problems with his health, he eats, poos normal and love to play generally is healthy. I will buy the treatments from another vet place and perhaps will ask questions. the breeder use panacur paste.

anyway cheers for the quick answer

How old is Samson?? kittens need worming every month until they are 6 months old and then it goes to every three months this may be why the vet wormed him again ?!

Im pretty sure Advantage treats some types of worms but not all and that is why it is advisable to have a seperate worm treatment HTH

Re: worm and flea treatments

I would also advise purchasing online rather than at the vets as it is much cheaper. Zooplus, petsmeds and animal medic are all good sites i would recommend!

Re: worm and flea treatments

Yep that would be why the vet wormed him again - every 4 weeks until 6 months and then every 3 months after that, She wasn't doing anything wrong. The life cycle of worms means that's what you should do. Advocate treats some worms but not all so then you would need another tablet to treat the worms (I think for round worms) I've often treated for worms (Drontal) and fleas (Advantage) on the same day with no side effects.
