Is this normal??....

Bugs is now about 8 months old and for the past three nights Chewitts has had a hissing fight with fur flying whilst she has put him in his place. Is this just normal older cat thinking the younger cat needs to grow up now and stop acting like a kitten?? Is this something I should be worried about or should I just let them get on with it??

It could be that they are picking up on our stress as we are looking after my poorly nan this past week so we have had to keep the landing light on all night and we havent really been sleeping.

Re: Is this normal??....

I think it is more a dominance thing. Bugs is growing up to be genuine competition, so he needs to know who is top cat...
I suppose Bugs has been neutered....

Yeah he was neutered at 4 months old. Its weird cos watching their body language in the day, Bugs is top cat most of the time but when he is trying to incite her into playing with him he often plays the submission card rolling on his back or side and tapping her belly or legs.
Although he is only 8 months old he has always pushed her out from the food (and she lets him) and seems to dominate Chewitts but she often seems happier for it (as if she doesnt want to be top cat)
These night time scraps have happened as he has been over the top bouncing and running around like a loonatic and she has just wanted to be quiet and go to sleep.
