Rta

So sad my friend rang last night in tears her little odd eyed girl Lilly {cat} was found up the garden by her 3 year old. Shed been in a RTA and she didnt get in till tea time and didnt know when it happened. Her little girl was very badly injured and her vet had already said they would remove her leg if she survived the night. She has also not long moved in the area after keeping her in for 2 months and its really quite car wise near her. Shes so upset.
Her male was brought up with Lilly and is crying constantly at the window where she was found. She is very unsure as to get another cat for company. But he has always had a feline friend. I did say her may be a bit lonely with out the company as shes gone part of the day. I can understand her reluctance to get another cat what do you lot feel about it.?

Re: Rta

Oh what a sad post to read,i would say yes get him another friend but if possible could she catproof her garden, doesn't have to be expensive or too much hassle and would keep them safer, lots of other peeps have links i'm sure they'll put them up if your friend would be interested

Re: Rta

Its so sad but she has a communal garden so its a bit hard for her to fence it all in. Also the male cat she has is use to going out and im not sure if she is going to be able to keep him in. She is just so shocked as she lives in a very quite area and cats have never had a problem going out there. Shes not even on a through route. Yes i feel her cat would benefit from another cats company he was very cuddly and affectionate to her Lilly and her. she has hinted that shes not sure if she could get another one after whats happened. I do feel she will always have a risk letting her male out as we have no control on the cats where abouts when out.

How very sad...I can't imagine finding one of my cats in that situation. It must be heartbreaking for all of them

Re: Rta

That's really sad. I lost my Lei Lou in similar circumstances and it was over a year before I could bring myself to get another - and she won't be going out. Gizmo really missed Lei Lou to start with but soon forgot. Perhaps if I had got another cat earlier he might have been happier with it as he isn't very fond of Mai Tai.
It might be good if your friend gets another cat as a companion for her boy but I know how hard it is to decide.

Ahhh that is so sad I think another puss would be a good idea but I also agree about 'cat proofing' the garden... just to be sure. We have our garden completely covered in netting so that the babies can go out to play without any worries.

Its hard to net her garden as its a commual one and her and her neighbours use it. Her cat she lost was very close to her male he was a baby when she got him and he use to try suckle from her. I dont think she will get another cat quite so close to that one. Hes stayed with her mums cat before also a female around the same age she loved him he wasnt so keen. Shes really in a state over this at the mo. And has said she doesnt want another, Which of course is her choice. But its eary days i suppose she may change her mind.

Re: Rta

Know it's hard and really is tragic but as much as i said think she should get another friend, maybe she's right not to,the great thing about our cats is that yes they miss each other but they are also very adaptable and with some time he may learn to be happy as a lone cat
