No messes yet, but you should hear the sounds he makes when he eats! I think he just spent the last two days trying to get full--all he did was sleep in the basket of stuffed toys or in my lap, and then get up to eat when I opened a can. He's covered in scabs and we found fleas today, so I think he must have been wandering the streets for a while. He's sweet as, well, Chaucer was and still is--all he wants to do is be in my lap, although today he's playing a lot more.

Well, we did consider it for a minute

We also considered calling her Bunny---if anyone has ever seen Eddie Murphy's standup show "Delirious" he talks about his Aunt Bunny, who had a mustache. It's the only woman with a mustache I could think of, and she does hop about. Then if her name were Bunny, he could be Clyde. But then we felt that it was too normal, given all the other pet names here

We had a Pippin, who we usually called Pip--so we like the name too. But he sadly died suddenly last May, and it's too soon to reuse the name. He was a wonderful ginger boy, another handsome moggy from a shelter.

And the mustache was the thing my OH really loved about her. He kept coming home talking about the cat with the little symmetrical oval like a mustache. I knew she'd stolen his heart. And all my talk about how black cats never get adopted made him feel sorry for the black one--especially since he's like a miniature of our Chaucer.

Re: New Years Surprise

Well, the little girl with the mustache seems to want us to call her Molly, although I'm not sure we are settled on it. It's just that, in a room with two giant bookshelves, she has pulled Moll Flanders off the shelf twice now. No other books. Just Moll Flanders.
