Smile kitten sleeping in my bed

So I let Mikah sleep in my bed.. I love it when she curls up in a ball next to me.. But she can be so unpredictable! Some nights she's so quiet and peaceful.. and other nights she lays on my chest when I'm laying on my back and non-stop licks my face.. And I'm sure we all know here that cats tounges are like sand paper so this is not very pleasent! She'll also rub her face &wet/freezing nose on my face!

Any way I can get her to be better at bed time? (I was going to say be better in bed.. but gosh would that sound wrong! xD)

Re: kitten sleeping in my bed

She will calm down as she gets older She's just a baby and she obviously thinks some nights you should be up having a game with her because she wants to play. Its like having a new human baby, good nights sleep become a distant memory

Re: kitten sleeping in my bed

you could play with her for a while before bedtime so shes more tired, our kitten sleeps with me in the bed or in her basket next to the bed, she gets up during the night and switches between the bed and her basket but it doesnt really disturb me.

Re: kitten sleeping in my bed

Hi

Restless nights would drive you mad. hehe. my little one sleeps in with me when i first go to bed but then he's always up about 2am pawing my face wanting to play. I pick him up and put him out my room at that point and he seems to have learned that when he's locked out not to bother me. can you try something like that, that way you can still get the cuddles you want at bedtime but when the wee one thinks its playtime lock her out?

Smile Re: kitten sleeping in my bed

When I first got my kitten she would sleep at the top of the matress right beside my face and constantly push her feet and body under my chin and rub her whiskers and claws against my skin, which used to keep me awake, but I started putting a big fleece blanket on the top of the duvet for her to snuggle into, so she now settles much better further away. I didn't know that kittens would settle themselves at night better as they get older, but my kitty seems to have done.

Re: kitten sleeping in my bed

can totally relate to this and I know Im gonna get shouted at my queens tend to deliver in my bedroom then once the kittens eyes are open and they are reasonably mobile they move to the downstairs bathroom once they are litter trained they have the run of the house so depending on the amount of kittens depends on how many Im sharing with as they follow mum as soon as they can jump up onto my bed and yes they are hopeless at settling so I tend to play for half an hour before I go to bed stick 15 mins messing about while everyone picks a spot then have 10mins of deffinate NO and to the end of the bed repeat offenders get frog marched to the downstairs bathroom so generally by the time they go to their new homes where 90% of the time they go to bed with the new owner they have a little bedtime decorum and ettiqute

Hee hee, have to laugh at this it rings so many bells. The other night I made the mistake of leaving my bedroom door slightly open. In the morning it felt like the quilt had nailed me down to the bed and I was literally trapped! Turned out there were 6 of them on my bed with a big fat white/blue boy right in my face, lol

The only way you will win is ban her from the bedroom altogether, and I mean who reeeeeaaaaalllly wants that?

I laughed so hard when I read this! I wake up so many times finding my Mikah laying smack on top of me, so I can relate.. Also she's figured out how to open doors if they're not completely shut.. She'll stick her paws under it to pull it open, or stand up on it to push it open!!

I used to do that because she'd have trouble getting to bed.. Now she gets to bed fine.. It's just during the later hours of the night that she wants my attention.

This is just like Mikah! I put her out of my room if she's being to bad as well.. Sometimes I'll hear her meowing to get in for a few minutes.. But she'll eventually stop and wonder into the living room to sleep on the couch...

She has improved a lot since I first got her.. She used to knead on my face to wake me.. I'm glad she doesn't do that anymore!
