Re: Persian care

Alot of cats prefere there own tray but you could see how it goes. I didnt find i needed to empty my tray any more with my persian than any other cat. Unless i noticed a real soft poo had been done . Although i use to fish them out as soon as i noticed they had been done.

Batty is on a distinguished road
Re: Persian care

Thankyou you two.
I can't fish it out immediately as I wouldn't be able to keep getting up each time one of the three cats went to toilet.
The smell isn't nice (obviously) but they're good at covering it up which helps a lot.
I just had an image of a persian refusing to use a litter tray because it hadn't been poo picked and wanted to check that they don't tend to be fussier than most other cats.
Should I be ok?

Edit: just noticed I posted this from my friend's account whoops.

My persian is almost identical to Madcat's - I use a different brush on different days - he loves being brushed so it makes things easy but by doing the different brushes on different days I get extra fur off somehow and spend the same amount of time. He is a bit sensitive in the back legs to grooming but otherwise a cinch.

I call them cling-ons!! Usually it's not too bad as long as you keep on top of the grooming and trimming - if you spot a cling-on and can get it then and there it will save you a world of issues

Re: Persian care

Hiya

Henry's 10. He came to me from a rescue centre (previous owner took him there when he weed in the house, but was found to have bladder stones which needed urgent surgery) so I don't have his pedigree stuff but remember a few of the details from it

When I saw your photo they looked so similar!!!

here he is

Re: Persian care

He's a real handsome chap. One of my kitten buyers has just sent me some pics of a cat I bred 3 years ago, and he is spitting image of your little man

I have to say that Audrey, my long hair persian will not use the litter trays if the two boys have left plops in there! She will wait until i have scooped it out before she goes in! And she's always the first in when i clean the trays out every morning!!

She is a fussy madam though but i love her for it, she'll tell me when she really needs to go by meowing in my face and leading me to the tray! I clean all 3 trays out every morning with fresh litter and newspaper, and scoop the plops out as soon as they have done one. I find non-clumping litter is much better for Audrey as it doesnt stick to her bum.

She also loves to be brushed and will lay down as i groom her. She can get very knotty easily so its important to brush them twice a day. For some reason she has a couple of matts inbetween her back legs which i'm absolutely gutted about, and they are too close to her skin for me to cut out so she is going to the vets tonight to be clipped!! I always brush her legs so i dont know where the matts have come from, but i will now be much more thorough when i brush her!

Re: Persian care

You should have brought Audtat over to me Rach, I would have clipped her knotties for free, lol. Some of mine also hang on to their poo poos until they have a clean box and then it is like a 10 metre sprint which one can get in the clean box first, fussy cats, very fussy rolleyes:
