Re: Persian care

It's ok, I've done some research on grooming tools and ordered a wide toothed comb, a narrower one and a slicker brush.

I'd still like an answer to the poo thing please. I read something elsewhere on the forum about "cowpats" stuck to the cat's backside and it made me nervous lol.. I guess I'd like to be reassured that's not a regular thing or clued in if it is!

Thanks loads.

Re: Persian care

Hello, my persian as sometimes had pooh stuck to her at the back yes, but only a couple of times, and i have had to bath her, and i have also found stains of it across the windowsill (sorry if tmi) but i just cleaned it up, this as happened when i was out so i noticed when i returned from work and cleaned her up straight away.

It as only happened a couple of times though, i dont think its a big deal as any cat whatever breed could have a accident and you have to clean them up its part of the joys, and i wouldnt change my Tootsie one bit even though she does have a messy bum sometimes lol xx

Re: Persian care

Yes had the windowseal pooh trail to . Lovely. They all have odd runny bums at some times. Its just a bit more messy or takes more to clean a persian. I will say they have a great personaility and are generally very laid back. A wide tooth detangling comb is a good buy. I also found childrens detangle spray is good for grooming if used a little. But you would have to see if your cats ok with it. My male persian had stud tail so the base of his tail use to get very greasey. I found a bit of baby talc was very good to some times. Good luck on your hunt for a cat.

Yeah I would agree with Madcat on the poo subject, as they say sh*t happens from time to time, lol. I have leather suites which are wipeable. If you have a light coloured suite you could get a couple of throws for it, if that is what is worrying you. C.x.

What about a Birman...? they are very loving and although they have a long coat it is made up of 2 layers and never seems to get matted or 'knotty' My boy loves to be groomed and I've never had problems with a 'dirty bum' despite his shaggy coat.

Re: Persian care

I've got two persians, a blue point and a seal point The only problems I've ever had with them is when they were eating meat - disaster Mine both seem to have sensitive tums. They have now been on Royal Canin Persian for the last 4 years and (touch wood) they haven't had a problem. I do need to be strict though and the only treats I give them are chicken or a tiny bit of fish. No cat food tins in my house As mine are pets only I do trim them a bit around their bottom area, not really enough to notice when they are walking around but enough to give that area some space Now if a bit of poo does get stuck it usually falls off within the vicinity of the cat tray

Persians have wonderful temperaments. Mine are both laid back, friendly, snuggly little couch potatoes who never ever do anything naughty. Compared to my two tabby moggies who are hooligans/murderers/carpet scratchers etc, they are like different species of animals let alone just different breeds of cat!

If you have your heart set on one then go for it. Super cats, super attitude and absolutely stunning to boot. Especially the colourpoints with their gorgeous blue eyes. What more could anybody want

My lass is beautiful but has had the very occasional dirty bum. Never had to wash it though a baby wipe is always enough. She doesn't need grooming everyday and no knots or matts either. Lovelytemperament as well.

Re: Persian care

Thanks for all your help.
I have another question, sorry for all the questions but I want to be absolutely certain I can care for a persian properly.
I have two tonkinese cats and I empty the contents of their litter tray into a bag every night and give them fresh litter.
When I get my new cat, the three of them will have two trays.
Should a persian be ok with the litter trays that are emptied once a day, rather than picked at several times a day? I don't want to distress him.
Again, many thanks.
