Free to a good home :)

dont no if this has been posted befor but saw it n thort id share while i have a spare 5 min

FREE TO GOOD HOME: 2 year old child. Genuine reason for sale, I've just got a new kitten so no longer have the time for the child. Think kitten may be allergic to child, also worried the child may scratch the kitten. Child is… potty trained and up to date on all shots. Needs home by tomorrow or it'll be put to sleep. Thanks! YOU WOULDN'T DO THIS TO A CHILD SO WHY DO YOU SEE IT AS ACCEPTABLE TO DO IT TO AN ANIMAL!!. If you can't dedicate 10-15 years to a animal don't get one!

Re: Free to a good home :)

Great post.

And so true...
A pet is as much of a commitment and responsibility as a child.

A friend of mine has a signature on a cat forum reading:
I got rid of my girlfriend, the cat was allergic.

My pets are my kids and Poppy's daughter Snoopy is my granddaughter so if people can just get rid of their pets then why not their kids...Hmm maybe shouldn't give people ideas

Re: Free to a good home :)

Some years ago I read an agony column letter from someone who had given up her 18 month old son for adoption because her new boyfriend didn't like him.

I am never sure whether those letters are made up, but with people like that, there is not much hope for animals is there?

Perhaps the main reason is that society would condemn someone who got rid of their kid, but it is acceptable in most circles with pets.

From what you see there are many people who should never had had animals, but then there are an equal amount who should never had had kids.

I am not sure whether the person you read about was "right in the head" but if some guy wanted me to ever give up a child of mine, I'd tell the sod to get lost then ...

But you are right, society tends to turn a blind eye when it comes to animals...

I always used to read agony columns, bit of a fetish, but this one always stuck in my mind. It seems she was writing to warn other mothers not to do the same thing as she regretted it so much. My God, what mother entitled to call herself that would even think of doing it?

Having said that, though, when you think of all the poor kids abused, both sexually and physically, by stepfathers or mother's boyfriends, she was no worse than those mothers, if not better.

I wouldn't part with my kids or my dogs for anybody. If some bloke asked me to give up my dogs, or even keep them outside, he would be out the door so fast his feet wouldn't touch.

Re: Free to a good home :)

On the news recently it was reported that social services are getting calls from mums, and i use that term loosely, asking for their children to be taken into care over the New year so they can go out partying. And when new year is over, wanting them back so i assume they can continue claiming the benefits that they had these children for in the first place

Animals really dont stand much of a chance.I've always had a love of animals for as long as i can remember. I have to deal with people on a daily basis in my job and it brings home to me why i prefer animals to people

I sincerely hope SS take the hint and take these children into permanent foster care. I cannot believe anyone would do that, when I won't even put my dogs in kennels to go away.

I don't know about anyone else, but when my kids were small I didn't want to go out and leave them, not even with grandma. Unbelievable!
