Exclamation Charlie is a Bengal :-o

He's got so moody and aggressive recently, and just seemed really down. So I took him to the vet this evening and he was like "ooh you've got yourself a Bengal" . I don't know if I'm a good enough owner to look after Charlie properly

Well bengals are notorious for being hard work, they can get aggressive but there are ways to counter it they need a lot of play, they love climbing being at high heights, my bengal cross luckily has 4 other kittens to play with so she doesnt get these issues if given stimulation yours should calm down.

DO you have one of those high stratching posts/activity centres

Re: Charlie is a Bengal :-o

Hello!
Thanks for the replies so far... I'm at breaking point with him really he's gone so scary. He has a high up 'platform' / scratching post, 2 cat cubes, a play tunnel, a random cardboard box, and lots of little toys / balls / chaser things. I spend so much time each day playing with him just trying to keep him occupied it's just not enough. When he first came to me he didn't even know how to play because he hadn't had any toys, so there has been a lot of love and progress! But it's absolutely breaking my heart to see him like this it really is, but I worry that my house is just too small to get him a playmate. I just can't cope with him attacking me anymore

Here are a couple of links that might help you - it would seem that a lot of people have found they've had "issues" with their Bengals

Re: Charlie is a Bengal :-o

just looked at the pictures you posted, he looks like a moggie, I breed bengals and he isnt a full bengal, no idea if his half of one, traits dont mean much as alot of cats have the same traits, spotted is just a pattern, many many many cats are spotted, moggies to epytian maus!

alot of people claim to have bengal or bengal crosses and most are just moggies as people lie to make more money on them, unless they have papers then its 99% not a bengal.

is he neutered yet? at what age did you get him?

again alot of these are due to back yard breeders and 'cheap' and 'cross' cats, not brought up properly, or people who dont realise that it isnt a cat you get to leave it sittting in the cornder with a wuick pat on the head

so please do your research on Any breeder and go to a reputable breeder, costs alot more than money in the long run

Re: Charlie is a Bengal :-o

Okay I'm relieved he isn't a proper Bengal having read those links! I always presumed he was a moggie. Maybe there is some bengal in his history, though how anyone would know that is beyond me lol.
Thanks 'Taylorbaby' for looking at his pictures I really appreciate it.
I didn't buy him don't worry , and if he has any papers I certainly don't have them!
He's been neutered about a month ago....and whatever he is - he's going to get me fit with all the 'playing' I'm having to do
Any tips gratefully received, I've kinda turned my living room into a kitty adventure playground ...

Re: Charlie is a Bengal :-o

i don't find my bengal, button to be aggressive at all. she will stick up for herself if my two boys get a bit boisterous with her, but she never starts any fights. i'd say she's quite shy and reserved though with other people including my oh (she's suposed to be his baby, lol). hope you mange to find a solution to your problems with your little handful

Re: Charlie is a Bengal :-o

i think some cats just go through a stage of 'spoilt kitty syndrome' lol my schumy is doing this being a brat but my bengal cross is a nightmare with screaming at the top of her lungs ive never heard such a loud meow and she loves climbing to the ceiling lol but so not aggressive, but in saying that she has rough wrestling play fights with the others so i dont get it from her lol
