help... :(

Guys, I have a british blue shorthair, had her since she was 4 months old and love her to bits, about a year an half old now...

I live alone and am away quite a bit for work so have had to leave her alone for 3/4 days (lots of food and water - so no issues there), but she loves company and comes straight to me when I'm home.

I feel bad not being able to give her all the love in the world an seriously want to give her a good home... so what would you all do? I don't have anyone local that could look after her when i'm away from home, and I don't really trust random people to have access to my home.

I live in bedfordshire - should I sell her on?!!!

Re: help... :(

when my family used to go on holiday my mum would get a friends' teenager to do it & i used to dog sit for neighbours - teens like responsibility & it was easy money!

Re: help... :(

neighbours? someone near like that
- i loved pet sitting when i was a teen. most teenagers are trustworthy and will happily fuss a cat daily so she doesnt get as lonely ( i work with teenagers)

Do you mean 3/4 of a day or 3 or 4 days?

If you mean 3 or 4 days then I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh ...... but you really shouldn't leave a cat alone for 3 or 4 days! Is she an indoor cat? If she is her litter box must be awful by the time you get home. And I assume it must be dry food you leave out, because there is no way wet food could be left out that long.

Re: help... :(

two litter trays are out...

but yes 3/4 days sometimes (not often, just when I have to go away for meetings) and yes that is why I do not really want to leave her alone... and yes she is an indoor cat.

and yes she is on dry food...

Re: help... :(

Have you not got a local cattery? If it's only a few times then that's the route I would go ..... I'm sorry but I just couldn't leave her alone, and I dont think getting another cat for company would solve the problem. What if they didnt get on? What happens if they hurt themselves?

Cat's need someone to look after them

Re: help... :(

that might be an idea... shall look into local cattery's, just worry as she is an indoor cat - and don't want her coming back with fleas or anything of the sort...

Re: help... :(

I doubt that would be a problem! Thousands of cats go into catteries and are looked after very well. Just do your homework and find one you are comfortable with.

And tbh I would rather she got fleas than to come home and find her ill or fallen off something and she had been laying there for 4 days in agony, or worse still dead!
