My cat has a bump on his head

My poor cat came home lastnight with a large bump on his head which was spongy and had some mud around it and he was a bit depressed. He ate fine and was still affectionate. I should have locked him in cause he went away and i haven't seen him today (not unusual, hes a yard cat) but i just hope he is okay and not in too much pain. Hopefully he comes home tomorrow day so i can get him to the vets.

Possibly an abscess - vet visit definitely needed.

Or possibly he had received a glancing blow from a car.
Either way I hope he turns back up soon and you can get him to the vet for a check over.

Im more inclined to think its a passing blow or (god forbid) one of the rotten lampers have hit him with a spade. Its deffo not an abcess, ive delt with them before and this doesnt fit the profile. I hope he comes home soon i would hate him to go off and pass away because i coudlnt take him to a vet on a sunday!

Re: My cat has a bump on his head

Has he still not shown up?
Can you lure him in with some food?
I sure hope he's OK....

He is an outside cat so i won't know if he is home until tomorrow when i go out to feed him. He usually turns up for feed times but didnt today

I really hope he comes home so he can get the attention of a vet that he obviously needs.
I am actually speechless that you let him out again after reading your posts tbh.
If you think he has had a glancing blow or been hit with a spade why did you let him out again without getting him seen by a vet

As i said he is an outside cat, He gets very stressed being trapped indoors (as my mothers broken crystal candle holders, ripped up carpet and torn blinds found out after him being in for 30 mins)

I don't have anywhere outside that i can keep him IN that he can't get out of, and i already feel bad enough that i didn't force myself to stress him more by keeping him in so i could take him to the vet this morning without comments like these.

Re: My cat has a bump on his head

Might be the start of an abcess which has'nt got to the irruption stage yet a course of AB's will fix him up though if it is good luck getting him to the vets we have a right stress head here to & our lot cant go wandering & its hard enough catching him
