Wow. He is beautiful and a real fighter. Well done you for bringing him so far in spite of the odds! Good luck to you both x

Re: "Extra Special" Cats

Thanks Kiwi, I tell him all the time that he is the most beautiful boy ever. He had been shipped over from Ireland where he had apparently been found injured, had his tail and furry ear-rings removed and then taken to ASH rescue, then shipped over to the UK. When we went to get him he was hunched up in the garden. He can pee for England, his carrier was drenched in minutes.

He has a huge personality, I have the scars to prove it and suspect that his tendency to attack feet is how he landed up injured. He used to pee on hubbys foot in the mornings while he was waiting for the kettle to boil.

He is what the vet called 'fiesty' and has not been an easy cat, but we took him in and he is ours and you don't just give a cat away because he is difficult.

Re: "Extra Special" Cats

I can't believe I previously missed this thread. Some fab photos and amazing stories. Particularly touched by Chewitts and dear little Yuki.

This is my Ginger. He is a stray that we used to find curled up asleep in a tree in our garden. Needless to say he soon became adopted. He's got a heart murmur and in February last year we discovered that he had lymphoma. He was given a few weeks. He is still with us . He went to vets last week as vet hadn't seen him for six months. Vet is of course overjoyed to have been proved wrong. When listening to his heart though vet said it was dreadful and that he really shouldn't be with us.

We feel very lucky he is still with us

Re: "Extra Special" Cats

This thread made me a little bit sad in a strangely positive way. It's great to see how much you all love these wonderful cats and are making their lives better. I never used to be a cat person at all (due to previous, now vanished, allergies) but now I love my little fella more than anything and he's faring well despite moderate ill health.

As per the pic below he has a "wonky" ear (don't know why) and he's had skin allergies galore after his time as a homeless flea-ridden street cat (now rescued). He was also extremely overweight (I assume he was drastically over fed by a previous owner) but the good news is that he has good functioning internal oragans, is losing a lot of his excess weight and seems to be over the worst of his health issues.

All the best to all your special cats from me and Nesty. You guys rule!

Re: "Extra Special" Cats

At the RSPCA where I volunteer a cat came in that had 3 legs and was deaf. He is white with blue eyes. I managed to convince my friends to take him as he needs an indoor home and they have been desperate for a cat but were worried as they dont have a garden. They picked him up today!

I have the most excellent persuasions skills!!

Very inspirational stories, sometimes perfection is just in how they are not in what they lack. You slaves are also made of a special material as you were able to see beyond their problems.
