Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
I have just cleaned the litter trays and in doing so thought I would sift the old stuff to get rid of the dust!!! OMG I have almost given myself and my dog Cassie an asthma attack!!! NEVER will I do that again in a closed enviroment!!!!
eek: Still can barely breathe and thats after a puff on my blue inhaler!!! Poor Cassie has had to have a squirt of inhaler and some cough medicine and she still doing the odd cough!!! |

Re: Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
Have to say that I don't bother with the whole sifting malarkey. I just change the whole lot after 6 or so weeks - it isn't as though that this stuff is expensive and doesn't come from renewable resources.
Hope you both can breathe more easily soon. Perhaps a walk might clear the lungs... |

Re: Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
Cassie has stopped coughing now and I feel a little less tight. I would go for a walk but have already taken Cass out and am meant to be cleaning house ready for next week! Just having a sit down with coffee. Doubt I will sift again was too bad on me and Cass

Re: Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
Interesting
This was posted in "cat health" a week or so ago. Cat's Best Oko Plus fir and spruce litter - a health hazard? I have emailed the company ,"twice" still awaiting a reply. |

Re: Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
Sorry to hear this Kittenfostermummy. Hope you feel better now! I never sift it, just scoop out soiled areas which are never replenished and replace entire contents when levels are very low.
Interestingly, I've been wondering a lot about Oko PLus ( missed the first thread, thanks Buffie ) in view of adherence levels and potential ingestion by the cats. Of course the tracking would indicate chances of this are minimised-though not completely - but I'd certainly be wary of using it with an animal who's more restricted or less mobile, for this reason! |

Having just the 1 shorthair the tracking isn't too bad although I can imagine how bad it may get with multiple long haired cats. |

Re: Arghhhhh Okoplus!!!
I still like Oko, despite the tracking, because it's just so much less smelly and easy to scoop (I don't do the sifting thing either, though I do notice the dust) than any of the cheap, rubbish litters I used to use. I suppose I ought to give Natures Gold a go at some point if it really does track less.
