So, I cleaned the floor last night

And woke up to this: Photo Album - Imgur

Every single day without fail one of our cats never fails to drag in loads of mud. I don't know how he does it, I've positioned pots in the garden to try and stop him walking straight from the mud into the house (so he has to go via the grass) but still, he's always covered in mud. By contrast, our other cat who spends just as much time outside has never bought in any mud, ever.

It's a complete long shot that there's anything out there that would help, but is there anything I can do? By the way it's not just the tiled floor, the laminate also gets muddy, the carpets on the stairs, the landing, he also sits in window cills a lot so they're always covered in mud (cleaned daily) and the walls leading up to them too. Not to mention he occasionally jumps onto the basins in the bathrooms so they're usually a bit muddy too!

Here's the culprit by the way: imgur: the simple image sharer

Re: So, I cleaned the floor last night

Is that all??? Our floor gets much worse than that lol! We put a blanket in front of the cat flap to catch most of the wetness and a bit of mud, which helps to a degree. Doesn't solve it though!

Re: So, I cleaned the floor last night

I clean it twice a day, so that was just half a days worth, if I had posted a photo yesterday (having not cleaned it for a couple of days) god damn it was awful, I didn't even want to go into the utility

Putting a blanket down isn't a bad idea though, thank you! Hopeflly it'll catch most of it before it's all over the floor/carpets/walls/window cills/sink basins

Re: So, I cleaned the floor last night

Get brown slate effect floor tiles, it doesn't show up as much!

We have 2 big dogs & 2 cats who are all in & out all day (we have a dog flap) - the amount of mud & leaves that get bought in is unbelieveable. I feel like we are living in the garden some days.

At least the dogs mud is only on the floor but the cats jump up on to the window sills, kitchen work tops, shelves so it's bloody everywhere

Re: So, I cleaned the floor last night

I have a large Turtle mat by the back door and it does cut down a lot of the mud and debris. With 6 of them nothing would stop it completely though!
