We're off to the vets

This morning for Frank's yearly booster, it's going to be a BIG drama getting him in the cat carrier I think he knows as he's sitting at the back door pawing at the cat flap

Re: We're off to the vets

Hope all goes well.

Have you tried leaving the carrier out in a room somewhere and letting him get used to going in it without actually taking him anywhere - put a few treats in there now and again and throw his toys in it - so he doesn't associate it always with trips to the vets?

Thanks

I leave the carrier out all the time, I think being a rescue he's had bad experiences with carriers and vets

I've got some tasty treats in there and he still doesn't go near it, bless him.

Aww poor Frankie - and poor you! I know exactly where you are coming from as we have the same with Harry - and he gives the vets hell when we get there too

Our vets, after some debate, have agreed that Harry only needs his vaccs every three years now so we have a little bit of respite. I guess the thought of being scratched and bitten by a screaming cat who jumps off the table outweighs the thought of the £30 they'll get if they have him in

Good luck, I know you'll need it - I'm with you in spirit.

Aww thanks x You being there in spirit must have worked Frankie wasn't as bad as he usually is, it only took a couple of attempts to get him in the carrier and he didn't kick up too much of a fuss as he usually does he must have a sore throat now though with all the meowing he did. When we're in with the vet he won't come out of the carrier so we have to take it apart. Going back in to come home he'll happily go in

Frank is all vaccinated for another year, the vet said he was a healthy chap and she was pleased that I was feeding good quality foods she weighed him and he's 5 1/2kg .

When we got home, he went straight to the back door for me to let him out, I did, it's freezing cold outside and now it's raining, hopefully he won't be out too long, he'll be sulking with me all day now.

Aww poor Harry, I do feel for them so much, they get so stressed out, bless. It's a good thing for Harry and for you that he only needs vaccs every 3 years, it definitely takes the stress away for the both of you.

So glad it went well - perhaps Seb's had a whisper in his ear and told him it won't be so bad

Or perhaps he was trying to be "cool" in front of the young 'un?

Or thought it was safer in the carrier than being terrorised by Seb
