Witchyone - how is your kitten getting on. Have you claimed it as your own yet?

If he is picking fights and obviously has not been neutered, he may well not have a caring owner... If you can keep him in to neuter him, you'd be doing him a huge favour, and bet he'll turn into a sweetie

If he's still unclaimed/with me in a fortnight, I'll set the neutering wheels in motion, which will hopefully curb his aggression. I wouldn't expect it to stop him completely, #'s 1&3 cats, Bola and Max were both done early and it hasn't stopped them, especially Max tho' with Bola it's only with next doors 2 toms, he runs up to greet every other cat he meets.

The newcomer will insist on trying to pick fights with another semi adoptee, Stripey Tail, who is literally twice the size but will only defend himself as a last resort. He's another one needing neutering as he's very much a lover not a fighter, but he's a big cat who while he loves belly rubs, let me know in no uncertain terms he doesn't like being picked up the first (and last) time I tried. On top of that Stripey comes and goes at will so any vet appt would most likely be missed thro' him being smart enough to make sure he wasn't around on the day.

Hopefully the grey and white cat, well more kitten as I'd put him at around 9 months to 1 year old maximum, will co-operate.

Re: Advice re stray kitten

I had a scare with him last night as he was lay on my bed with his right hind leg at a most extraordinary angle, plus he looked a bit battered about the face with a fresh, second small cut to his nose and was very subdued. I fully expected a vet visit would be needed as it looked for all the world his leg was dislocated, if not broken.

I managed to examine the leg without disturbing him too much and thankfully there were no signs of pain, which he confirmed 10 minutes later by jumping off the bed for a drink of water, then following #1 cat Bola in dashing downstairs after *something* they'd both heard use the flap.

He's fine today and is currently filling his face in the kitchen tho' I've got to admit I've never seen a short haired cat look so generally tatty, so easily. He's only got to get wet to look like he's been in the wars as his fur sticks together in clumps when dried.

Re: Advice re stray kitten

A bit of a setback yesterday in the friendship between the newcomer and #1 cat Bola, who likes to play rough and is always the one to start things. He did and got more than he bargained for as the newcomer gave back a lot more than he received and then wouldn't take no for a answer when Bola tried to surrender.

Thankfully I was on hand to separate, then keep them apart, and there's been no more *playfighting* so hopefully Bola has learned a lesson. I doubt it tho', the same thing used to happen with a semi adoptee, Buddy, before he vanished into thin air, Bola would start and was soon asking for my help.

Oh no, that's a shame, but setbacks can happen when cats make new friends! I had one this morning with my two

It's all forgotten now, they're best mates again I found them taking it in turns to hide under the bedspread on the spare bed as one side hung on the floor, while the other *stalked/hunted* them last night.
