Thanks your advice. As i said before I have spoken to the vets and she has said Amber is fine to be let out.
She has no stitches now and the scar has healed well.

I get the feeling you are all under the impression i intend on shoving her out the door and closing it for a few hours. I will of course stay with her, and it will only be for 5 mins tops.

We have an enclosed garden and are not near a busy road.

Amber is going 'stir crazy' inside so I just wanted to give her a taste of the outdoors so she wouldn't be so mad inside!

Thanks again and I have taken on board all that has been said.
Im not sure why you have asked advice when you are going to let ber out anyway Vets are experts in animal illness, unless they bred or have behavioual qulifications, so you have asked expereinced people here, I have 2 cats that go outside, 1 is nearly 15years old now, and we taught him & the other one a command to come back on, the second one started going out at 10 months, you really should leave it until 10-12months of age, 6 months is way to young, everyone here has says it, expererinced people, yet you dont listen?

She isnt going stir crazy, she is a kitten and needs playing and attention she will be fine until spring, this gives you time to teach her a command, or just take her out on a harness to get her used to it in the mean time?

no thats dogs when you are house training them, you dont need to let them walk out you can carry cats and hold them, thats what we did for two minutes to get them used to being on the grass.

At what point do you presume i 'don't listen'? At no point have I said I have taken her out anyway- so I would appreciate it if you would read my posts properly before commenting on them.

I have a harness and I intend on using it. I have listened to all the advice that has been given and will of course take it all on board.

I have decided to wait until her fur has fully grown back and until I think Feb or March before letting Amber out.

I would not ask for advice, which, by the way I appreciate, and then ignore it. What would be the point in that?

Thanks again for others' comments and I will keep them in mind when I do come to let Amber outside.

Your thread's title."Letting Amber out for the first time tomorrow".Fair assumption that you are about to open the door and let her out!
Wires may have been crossed but the replys were to the thread you posted.
Only now you are saying that was not what you meant, which I am very glad to read as IMO she is far to young to be going anywhere.

Using a harness is a good idea and waiting until the weather is much better and Amber is better prepared to cope is an excellent decision
