Re: Parents Doesn't Understand Me.. they are going to..
You can buy very effective de-fleaing medications from most pet shops and vets. Frontline is a good one - you just drop a spot of it between their shoulder blades and within a few hours the fleas are dead. Your house will need to be treated, too and that will depend on how bad the infestation is. You can buy powders from the vets and also from pet shops, which you put down, leave overnight and the hoover back up. If the infestation is very bad, you may need to call in the local council to clear it, but it is more than likely that that will not be necessary. And if your cats go outdoors, they will need to be de-flead regularly (about every 6 months) so that the problem doesn't return.
Good luck. I hope that you will be able to persuade your Mum and Dad to let you keep the cats.

Re: Parents Doesn't Understand Me.. they are going to..
Are you under 16?
How many cats do you have and what ages? Haven't you heard of flea treatments? .................................................. .............. Parents, especially Mums, get very distressed at the thought of a flea ridden house - it has connotations with having a 'dirty' house, just like when child comes back with nits from school. Cats get fleas - fact. If they go out the little b++++++s live in the grass and jump on the cat as it passes. You can treat cats for fleas and you can get sprays to treat the house. If I were you, I would find out by searching this forum, or google it, and have a plan of action to tell your parents how to tackle the problem. I would also contribute some pocket money towards the cost. Supermarket flea treatments aren't that great, but if you do your research you will find out what is. |

Re: Parents Doesn't Understand Me.. they are going to..
You sound quite young - how long have you had the cats?
Your parents cannot just abandon them for having fleas and as others have said there are plenty of treatments available, go to your pet shop and ask which is the best if you are young and do not have the money to go to the vet. You can buy some really decent stuff and even if they're not very effective you can put flea collars on the cats, which do help. My older cat spends most of his time outdoors and does not have fleas but the only stuff I use with him is a tablet which I hide in his food - that seems to work for us. I can't remember the make but they're not expensive. Don't, please, don't talk about wanting to kill yourself. I know how hard it is when you think no one cares or understands. Find someone you can trust to talk to and keep talking to your parents no matter what. The problem can be solved. take care. |

Re: Parents Doesn't Understand Me.. they are going to..
eeek flees! theres lodes of stuff you can get, try lookin online for some products on pets at home etc?
well tbh if they just let them go they probably wouldnt go far anyway and would keep coming back to the house :P and they wouldnt be abel to survive if your parents are 100% not going to keep them and you have no way of making them change their minds the only thing you can do is to find a home for them yourself or take them to a re homing place? i really do hope it works out!!! |
