Question Automatic cat feeders?

Does anyone use automatic cat feeders? Considering getting one or two for our kitties for the odd occasion we're late in coming home. Won't be frequent use as will be asking cat sitter to come if they'll be left alone for many hours, but just on those days where I'll be home a little late.

We're considering the Catmate C20 or C50 and I was wondering if anyone has experience with either?

I was going to ask this, so interested in what you all have to say

Re: Automatic cat feeders?

We have the C20, it is really handy for nights when we are going out. Pretty basic mechanism but it does the job. I have once or twice forgotten to turn it on though, that's not recommended

Re: Automatic cat feeders?

I have this one:

Andrew James 6 Day / Meal Automatic Pet Feeder / Bowl with voice recorder: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

Have only used it when my cat was a kitten 2 years ago. Very easy to use and you can even record your own message. Did the job when our 1st cat needed frequent feeding.

That's the one I was thinking about getting - do you think I need two for two cats if they maybe need feeding twice? They don't really like sharing bowls!

Re: Automatic cat feeders?

We've had both and much prefer the C20. Much easier to set and the whole meal is revealed at once instead of the gradual teasing reveal of the circular C50!

If you have two cats and you're doing 2 meals then yes I think 2 feeders is best.

One of my the flip-up lids broke once on ours so I emailed petmate to enquire about buying a new lid, and they popped one in the post to me free of charge!

Re: Automatic cat feeders?

I use the C20. Cats do try & get into them & it looks quite destructive, but after a few minutes, mine at any rate gave up & it works well.
