longing to be a maine coon mommy :(

seemed to have searched forever for the right kitty. we want a friendly companion for our 6 month old female. she has been neutered and so will be our new cat when we find him/her. hubby wanted a dog(but im not a big dog lover)so has compomised with a *big cat*

ive found so many at good prices but im worried incase there are problems with them and *how they came to be*. what price should i be thinking for a pedigree maine coon. i have so much love to give to a new cat .

we love them mainly because of their size, my grandmother had several and theyve always fascinated me. with so much choice im baffled..

would love to see pictures of you have any maine coons? also their sizes if you know xxx

A friend has one that is just under 10kg

Re: longing to be a maine coon mommy :(

As for the cost of a MC ..when we got Ozzy just over 1 yr ago we paid the breeder £350..and we picked up our new MC kitten from them last week and their costs were still £350 so prices can vary a lot.ive heared of some breeders charging £600 for there kittens.....The breeder we get ours from will not sell kittens for breeding or for stud and there is just one charge of £350 for pet or for show kittens.......good luck.......Chris.

oh wow your ozzy is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! thats a very reasobale price most i have seen are around the 300-450 mark . so that has put my mind at ease thankyou . thankyou so much! i may pick your brain a little in a pm if you dont mind. he/she will be 100% a family loved pet i have no intentions of breeding ever.< i would not have a clue where to start and id rather just wait here for my kitty to arrive for snuggles. breeding sounds like so much hard work so my hats of to you ladies...and gents.

i love the size of ozzy hes a big boy, from what i hear they do take a few years to grow to their full size? thankyou for the picture hes adoreable. x

if i could id have a persian but hubby has sent me on strict orders to find him something *mean looking*, the size of the mc`s and theyre beautiful facial structures fascinate him.

id really love a silver tabby colour , hoping as my kitty is only just 6 months shell adapt to a new cat well?x

Re: longing to be a maine coon mommy :(

My boys came from www.namrib.co.uk - they were normally £450 but I got a small bulk discount

I found Heather after a visit to the Maine Coon Cat Club show in July 2010. They list breeders on their website and it's worth contacting some locally and further afield - get to know the breeder a bit and visit where the cats are manufactured (joke!); No, seriously, get to know the breeder and their adult cats, see how they live and make the effort if you can travel to meet your potential kittens often before you get the home. You may have to go on a waiting list if you want a specific gender or colour.

Maine Coon Cat Club

I skipped one litter where only girls were available as I wanted at least one boy, and then ended up with three. And I love them.
