Anyones cat Had a mid-line spay?

I'm so worried about her, i know its only been one day but she is so withdrawn, they didn't give her any pain relief and her vagina looks a bit bloody is that normal or am i just being over the top, she has hardly slept since she has had it done and wont lay down properly and is trying to sleep sitting up.

Re: Anyones cat Had a mid-line spay?

take her back to the vet....it drives me mad that so many vets don't give post spay pain relief for owners to take home...of course she'll be sore she's just had major surgery, she's showing signs of pain, so please take her back and ask for some pain relief for her.

Agree completely-take her straight back. Is she even on any antibiotics? Poor little thing, sounds as if she's in pain.

One of mine had a midline spay and behaved no differently to the others who had a lateral one. Recovered very quickly.

Thank you and no she's not on antibiotics but they said they gave her some, i just feel so helpless its so horrible seeing her the way she is, she has finally gone to sleep after being awake nearly all day and she is laying down now.

Re: Anyones cat Had a mid-line spay?

My friend's 2 cats both had a midline spay, they did not appear to be excessively uncomfortable afterwards. She sounds like she is suffering, I would get her back to the vet

Re: Anyones cat Had a mid-line spay?

Lateral spaying is very uncommon in Holland, midline spaying is the standard. The laparoscopic technique (keyhole surgery) is getting ever more popular, as it makes for far less discomfort for the cat.

But even if she had been done laparoscopcially, your cat SHOULD get pain killers AND antibiotics after an op like that. And I do find the blood worrying, too. She may have been at it because of the pain....

Thank you and it looks like dry blood but still worried and it was her second time having it done as they couldn't find it when they did a flank spay
