Re: Christmas tree!!!!

I bought a cheap small fibre optic xmas tree. It's not the same as a decent sized one, but at least I have a tree of sorts. Plus it's battery operated so no cables to munch. Small ginger blob still plays with it, but can't cause any damage.

I never even bothered with baubles, they're all over the flat courtesy of said ginger blob.

Re: Christmas tree!!!!

We always have a real Christmas tree and I was upset this year thinking that, with what Kitty and Oscar have done to my houseplants, we wouldn't be able to have a tree.

Then my lovely, lovely mum bought me a pretty, very modern John Lewis artificial one!!!

They look at it a lot and have had the occasional bat of the lowest baubles but, touch wood, they haven't tried to climb it and it's survived 48 hours totally unscathed.

I've never had anything quite so "modern art" before but I love it

Re: Christmas tree!!!!

I love Christmas too, but this year, as my cats are fiesty and curious 10 month old Juniors I decided not to get a tree. I knew they would attempt to climb it, or get needles stuck in their paws AND try and catch tinsel and baubles.

I have therefore;

Put tinsel all over our big paintings and photographs
Put the IKEA star lights across the archway
Taped our fairy lights to the ceiling like a grotto
Hung a few decorations high up off shelves
Put a wooden Christmas tree in the middle of the dining table. It usually holds tea lights but I have put satsumas in the holders instead.
Took a small railway track from my son and put the track around the tree. All presents will be stacked behind the tree as it is too small for them to be under the tree.

It looks magical and the cats seemed to like it too.

A bit of creativity, and you can still get a safe and magical Christmas

Re: Christmas tree!!!!

my children really want the tree up, but i have been putting it off as i am sure the two terrors ( Dazzle and Coco 7 month olds,) will distroy it, but after reading this thread, you have given me some good ideas ,,,

Re: Christmas tree!!!!
