My cat died today

I heard him crying really loudly in the back garden, so I went downstairs, opened the back door and he wasn't stood there, so I walked to the gate and looked to the side of the back garden and there was my gorgeous ginger tom, looking at me crying. "Come on Tig" I called and he couldn't move to me. He managed to drag himself to the gate where me and my best friend let him in and covered him in a towel. He'd been dragging his back end which lead me to believe he'd been hit by a car or something. We put him on the arm chair and I sat there crying, fussing him as scared as he was, he fell asleep a few times with his head in my hands then my Mum took him to the vets. As he was leaving my living room, I gave him a kiss on the head and watched as his eyes stared right into mine as his weak, limp body left my house. An hour later my Mum came back, in floods of tears, informing me that my gorgeous little ginger prince had, had blood clots which had built up and cost him the use of his legs so the vet had no choice but to put him to sleep.
Goodnight Tiggy. I love you so much

I'm so sorry to hear this, at least he's in a better place now. R.I.P Tiggy.

Re: My cat died today

Thank you.
We had no idea he was ill. The vet said it was the animal equivalent to someone having a stroke. It can happen at any time. She also said it was very common in ginger Tom cats.

Re: My cat died today

Awwww no! That is so sad I had to explain to everyone in work today that my cat had been put to sleep 2 hours before my shift and very few understood why I was upset.
I'm glad there's a forum where I can express my love for the feline species.

-hug- I'm sorry that your work didn't understand . I get very upset about animals dying, even if they aren't my own pets I still am sad they have to die. People here will always understand your sadness of a death of a pet they are our family and we love them as such.

Thank you. Losing a lively, life enjoying cat of only 6 years old is so hard.

Thank you OctodonDegus

I guess it's a shame I have to work with people who don't comprehend that a pet is just as much a part of the family as any human being!

No worries I like to comfort fellow animal lovers. I was always told that its best to let it out when someone close to you dies, so don't hold it back and bottle it up -hug-
