Unhappy I need some advice asap guys

Hiya, im after a little help if you guys dont mind...

Right well the other day our sammy came home with a nik above one of his eyes, i didnt think there was anything to worry about, it looked dry and he hasnt been bothered by it in the slightest and tbh never thought anything of it as well we all know cats get into scrapes and he seemed to be healing very quickly.
Well this evening we have just given sammy his dinner and im quite worried about him..he seems to have been itching his eye..well i can only assume he has caught it and made it really sore, looks like he has pulled (rubbed) out fur round his eye and there is a lump which has been pussing..which looks like a scab next to it.
I have managed to get as puch puss out as i possibly can from this spot like lump and although its obviously sore for him he is not showing any change at all in behavior.
He is usually a very quiet puss and comes for a good fuss when we settle down at night..other times he just plays with his toys and likes to curl up on our bed where he can not be shifted once hes settled!
Im waiting for a call back off the vet..been told its not an emergency as hes ok in himself so im a little unsure of what to do next to be honest.

I was thinking of putting a little sudacrem on it to tru and sooth it for him but im unsure if this would help him in any way?
Im hoping the vet calls back shortly!

If there's puss then it's infected and will need antibiotics to clear it up, not an emergency strictly speaking but he still needs to get to the vet at some point. Do you have any hibiscrub handy?

I am presuming you will get him in to the vet tomorrow morning as it sounds like the wound is infected......For now I would be bathing the area frequently with a warm saline soaked cloth to try and draw as much of that puss out as possible.

As PP says, sounds like an abscess has been forming. Getting out as much pus as you can will make it a bit less painful for him. Wash regularly with warm salt water to prevent any further infection getting in.

You should be ok until Mon morning for getting him antibiotics (if you don't have access to a vet on Sundays except on OHH) but do keep a close eye on any changes in his behaviour as the infection would worsen.

If I run out of hibiscrub then I always use warm salt water to bathe any wounds. I wouldn't use any cream as he'll probably try & clean it off.

Hope he's ok.

Whilst at the vets pick up some hibiscrub, it's great for cleaning any cuts/wounds that animals may get

Re: I need some advice asap guys

You see, I think you guys all have funny emergency vets. Whenever I had to get in touch with my OOH vet and it wasn't a life-and-death emergency (if you get my gist) they always said that if I was worried I should bring the pet in.

If you are worried and it sounds as though an infection is forming get him to a vet now before you end up with some worse and possibly more protracted

Yeah she said its not an emergency even though i wish he could be seen now!
She booked me in for tuesday as they have no appointments left for monday but ill be ringing at 8am on monday morning and asking for him to be squeezed in..i know they will as they are a fantastic practice so im not worried about that.
