Re: Many cats and kittens needing homes all over the UK
I know its really sad why some cats don't get picked
We are trying hard to help rescues find homes for their animals now as sadly we will really need them to have spaces to take more in the weeks coming up to Christmas and after with all the animals brought as unwanted Christmas presents Many rescues stop homing animals in their care 2 - 3 weeks before Christmas to prevent any going as Christmas gifts, which sadly usually forces us to get animals very large distances to rescue placements to help save them. This year has been the worst year for kittens and abandon cats and it is running much later in the year as well. We are in December now and we are still being asked to help with pregnant cats and cats with young kittens . I am personally trying to find a foster home for a cat that was dumped in a local park in a village not far from me and is now living in an old couples garden with her 4 x8 week old kittens Once I have found a foster home then I can set about trying to trap them, wish me luck as those poor babies might not make it if the weather gets any colder![]() I just can't see things getting any better, with people having less money, losing their homes and many landlords not allowing pets the situation is just getting way out of hand ![]()

Re: Many cats and kittens needing homes all over the UK
Very true. Where I volunteer there are some gorgeous cats. we have a lot of black, and black and white cats. SO sweet natured but over looked.
A couple of our cats like Lulu and Buttercup are really struggling in rescue and the problem is they don't sell themselves well. So sad as they would make great pets if they could flourish in our own homes.

Re: Many cats and kittens needing homes all over the UK
I hope you get a good response to your request for re-homing cats.
I adopted Bandit, an 18month old black & white domestic shorthair from the RSPCA a little over 2 weeks ago (time flies) and she is wonderful & settling in very nicely. She's proudly sitting on the bed keeping an eye on things behind me right now. ![]() I can't understand at all why black or black & white cats get go overlooked, they're lovely. Pete |

Re: Many cats and kittens needing homes all over the UK
I understand you perfectly, I feel so frustrated when I go to the cat shelter and see so many loving cats just wanting a home. Sometimes I feel it is just a vicious cycle. You are doing a great job, the little ones need people like you to keep fighting for them. Lets hope for a much better 2012.
