Re: Why can't i keep my mouth shut
Even if she finds good forever homes for all her cats, they will be taking the place of cats in rescues, who would otherwise have occupied these welcoming beds and cat trees.
And if people only take a cat because a friend is having a litter, and they wouldn't have considered it otherwise, they'd better think twice, and preferably at least 10 times, before taking one. These are the people who love a cuddly kitten, but do not realize the cat will grow up, and will probably be part of their family for another 20 years.

Re: Why can't i keep my mouth shut
she made me soo ccross, she was saying none of her kittens would end up in shelter she would keep them all, i said so if she has 10 kittens you will keep them all, neuter them all etc
have you got excess money if you need to call out a vet in the middle of the night for emergancy spay etc.. she thenm went on to say her cat had been health tested as she was pedigree ![]() as far as i know to have kittens with papers she would have to be on the active register (correct me if i'm wrong) and breeder would not be too happy if she is breeding... and if she is breeding pedigree cats what the hell is she doing advertising on fb for a stud |

Re: Why can't i keep my mouth shut
Live and let live. If she wants to ruin cats lives, then let her. People ruin, kill, murder elephants, big cats, all sorts of animals. While I appreciate you have a soft spot for cats, it's unlikely in this world that you can change opinions of people like that.
I'm sure there is a flow diagram somewhere which says something like: Worry > NO > No worry Worry > YES > Can you do anything about it? > NO > No worry Worry > YES > Can you do anything about it? > YES > Sort it out > No worry It all points back to no worry in the end though. I'll have to find it. |

Well that attitude stinks. Feel free to have that attitude with your own life, you're entitled to your opinions. But likewise, so is the OP, and good on the OP for trying to change a negative to a positive. Just because the world is full of morons, doesn't mean we all have to agree with them ![]() Key point raised by the OP - EDUCATION. Without that, where would we be? The person the OP is talking about is clearly one brick short of a load. Just because people have opinions, doesn't mean we should ever stop trying to change them for the greater good. |

OP, I have had this discussion with my hairdresser recently, who has a male and female cat around 8-9 months old now. Has she neutered them? No! I was going on at her about the cost of an accidental litter, and that as she is out all day she wouldn't even know if they had 'got it together'. The fact that they are brother and sister sadly doesn't really work as a contraception in the feline world etc. I know she isn't purposefully neglectful, but the fact that she is putting it off as she is 'so busy with work' just really made me cross. How would she have time if her kitten got pregnant? In response to the above comment though, I know many people who have wanted a cat and are responsible owners. They didn't want to buy a pedigree and resented the hoops their local rescues made them jump through. Some were declined as they wanted indoor cats, some were declined because they had kids. This doesn't make them bad owners, just people who dealt with bad rescue workers. So they took kittens from friends instead. Whilst I strongly believe in neutering a pet, I don't think you can really say that a kitten from a friend necessarily takes the place of a rescue cat. I DO think however that too many people still believe that if a female cat has one litter before being spayed this makes her a gentler cat?!! I only have one thing to say to that - Education! |

BUT NOT when it's to the detriment of another living being, too many people are still of the mindset that 'just one litter' won't harm. It does do harm. If everyone sat back & just let people get on with it because they see it as their god given right then I'm sure the problem would just get worse & worse. I take my hat off to everyone who does their best to educate people & I also have respect those who change their attitude as a result.
