Re: Intraduceing a dog to my 4 cats
thats exactly how we did it wen we had a new dog come with our 2 cats, we had a stair gate so the cats could sit on the stairs n watch in safety, just dnt let ur kittys out for a while cus they can be reluctant to come bk and a bit of spoiling dsnt hurt so they see the doggy turning up as a good thing cus they got lotsa treats x

Re: Intraduceing a dog to my 4 cats
So the dogs already live with the cats but don't mix with each other? Hmm, not sure if that will make it easier or more difficult. Do the dogs chase the cats at the moment? Will the cats stand up to the dogs or just run away normally?

Re: Intraduceing a dog to my 4 cats
My two cats have always come into a dogs home but Snoopy only loves Duke so knew it would be difficult when we had our latest pup Clover. We let Clover make herself at home and mother cat Poppy was fine and mothered her but Snoopy was not happy but she's learnt to deal with her by staying out of her way and Clover has learnt not to upset Snoopy. They learn how to deal with one another a cats advantage is they can get out of the way if they want to
![]() Good Luck but I'm sure things will be fine mine are all one big happy family now. |

Re: Intraduceing a dog to my 4 cats
The dog will need to get to know your cats as part of the family- it will be easier since he has known cats before- but that doesnt mean he won't try it on with new cats. Babygates are a must- so you've got step one done. I would keep the dog on lead and muzzled and watch his reaction, treat him for calm behaviour and remove cats from the room if he gets excited.
Take it slow And good luck ![]()
