Well, I got a Catmate C20 today as there will be times when I may be needing to let Bandit have a meal on her own,
I will give it an hour before she wrecks it if tonight's test was anything to go by.
I fed her when I got back in from work tonight so she'd had her tea a fair while earlier. I then decided just to test it for the morning meal so I put in some dry food about 1/2 hour ago & set the timer for tomorrow 7.30. She was battering it hell for leather. So I've given up on the test now as it was a racket. I'll test it tomorrow night instead.
I can't see how any feeder would not have this issue tbh, unless it's made out of cast iron

We set ours up as we feed them so they don't tend to be so keen. Not sure if you did this or not?
Have you had it out for a while for them to get used to?

Some cats will just sit patiently waiting for it to open, but you will get others who just can't wait, and will do all they can to break into it to get at the food.

Up until now, I have had cats who have never abused the feeder, but our latest addition is a different matter. We can't leave any food out, cat or human food - he will get at it. I know that once we have used the feeder once, that will be it. He is that sort of cat, and he is only 7 months old!!

Yes I can see why you woudn't, in a way it's quite impressive that your cat's turning the dial to open it

Bandit seems to want to eat all the time, even after she's had her full meal, she's meaowing for more. I don't give her any, but I don't think the auto feeder's going to work that well. I will keep it out for her to get used to it & see how that goes, mind you as Kathy has said, maybe some cats are just destined to try to open them up
