Sensitive food suitable for a kitten?

Hi,
My 5 month old kitten is recovering from a nasty infection of Giardia and T Foetus. The tests have come back clear but she is still experiencing occasional diarrhoea, which the vet said was to be expected as the parasites will have upset her stomach and it will take some time to repair itself.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern to the diarrheoa, she will have a couple of days of hard stools then a day of runny stools.

At the moment she is on a diet of combined Royal Canin Sensitivity Control pouches and Felix wet food. I know Felix is not the best so I am looking for a sensitive food that is suitable for kittens. I have tried introducing slowly some of the better foods such as Animonda and Grau but all upset her stomach more so I'm thinking the high meat content may be too rich for her at the moment.

Can anybody recommend a sensitive wet food that I could try and I'm keen to move her off both the RC and the Felix sometime soon?

Thanks

Not going to recommend a food (because what works for one cat in your circumstances might not work for another, so a tad tricky) but instead am going to suggest you get some protexin enterogenic - a powder probiotic - and use that daily for a while to help rebuild her gut flora. Hope she is back to normal soon.

The Hills wet food pouches are meant to boost the immune system, and are now the only wet food that my kitten will eat!! They are around 40% meat in the chicken flavour

Re: Sensitive food suitable for a kitten?

Hi, thanks to both of you for your replies. I will definitely try the powder and see if that helps.
Treaclesmum - do you know which Hills pouches they are? I have been looking online but I can't see them and not sure if they're suitable for kittens?

Re: Sensitive food suitable for a kitten?

Why not just cut out the Felix and see how she responds? Also have you managed to pin down a trigger for the runny stool days? Yes, Giardia and other parasites will cause intestinal damage and supplements like L-Arginine and L-Glutamine can help in the repair process. However, it does sound as if most of the residual damage has resolved since this was about 6 weeks ago?

Re: Sensitive food suitable for a kitten?

I have been giving her Felix in between the RC Sensitivity pouches just for variation really and Felix was what she was originally eating before she came to us, so I thought I would try that first as her introduction back into normal food.
She is definitely better on the RC SC but the vet said I need to start weaning her off that firstly because its a high fat food which isn't suitable for permanent feeding but also because its incredibly expensive - £10 for 1 box of 12 pouches and shes eating about 3 a day.

Hopefully the damage is rectifying itself as it has been several weeks since she got the all clear but I just want to make sure I give her the best food I can but without upsetting her delicate little tummy.
So really I'm looking for something I can wean her off the RC SC with that will be quite sensitive and not too rich for her.

In addition I will also try one of the other products you suggested to help her intestines repair themselves.
Thanks
