Stealing cats for dogs to kill

there is someone in my village stealing cats for their dogs to rip to shreds. . . . training their dogs to kill cats and other small animals.

Someone I know has had their kitten stolen. .. not even 5 months old.

she had another cat stolen last Christmas

and she knows exactly who it is that is doing it yet the police wont do anything

Re: Stealing cats for dogs to kill

I do have to ask why if the person is known to be doing this are people still letting their cats out... Sorry but Id be keeping mine under lock and key..

The police wont act without proof so if its well known who what and where maybe its time people set up a sting operation themselves .. No point sitting back moaning and grieving,, direct action is needed.. Get proof .. then get the prosecution.

Re: Stealing cats for dogs to kill

it seems to sort of go in peaks and troughs around here though. . . we live basically in the country so there's lots of fields and things that the cats absolutely love. .I must admit it does sound stupid to keep letting our cats out but like once it appears to have stopped and has for a very long time and the cat has been sitting by the door every single day crying to go out and peeing and pooing on the floor because they would rather do that than use a litter tray you think it may be time to let them out again

it's the same as anywhere. . .you get the times when cats are going missing and then it seems to stop

this person's cat was stolen out of their back garden though baring in mind it isn't even 5 months old and it was in the day time

she is trying to get proof by setting up a camera on her street but all that will do is show yet another cat being stolen rather than stopping it. .

it's not safe to go snooping and see if there is any evidence on their property

I wonder if the RSPCA would be able to go and see if they can find evidence? would they be able to do that? they seem to do it on the RSPCA TV programs like go looking for evidence of dog fighting and things

If I knew a crime was being committed I would call the police.

Re: Stealing cats for dogs to kill

This is awful, why can't the police at least look into this? Perhaps they see it as "just a cat" so not worth bothering with. I hope your cats stay safe, you all need to be vigilant, perhaps an outside run would be an option, not ideal I know when your cats are used to wandering. I hope they catch these scum and soon.

I'm quite lucky because my cat is 17 and she doesn't go much further than the garden nowadays anyway . . . she's not old and frail or anything she still acts like a kitten but she just doesn't like to venture out into the fields any more. . .the furthest she goes is across the road to see my neighbour and then she comes back (we live in the bottom of a dead end so the road is nice and safe for her to cross too) but especially in this weather she quite literally goes out for a wee and then when you open the door she runs straight back in because she doesn't want to get cold and so since she loses a litter tray we will just have to make sure she is literally just let out and straight back in again

she also hates anyone she doesn't know. . . it took her about a month to get used to my OH she used to attack him and run off if he tried to stroke her hahahahahaha

we're just going to get the word out to anyone we know who has cats so it gets spread and there's no cats left out

and try and get some proof on who it was

Re: Stealing cats for dogs to kill

Are there any CCTV camera's in the area where these poor cats have gone missing?

The women that put the cat in the bin got caught. Lets hope this scum bag gets caught too.
Also you could have a word with the local paper.
