Chase the leaf...

(pic)-left over of another DIY cat toy, making the most of what's around

1 x Autumnal crispy big brown leaf

1 x piece of string

no sticky tape (lol)

tie stem of leaf to end of string and watch kitties zoom across the room as pet human sweeps leaf on string across the floor and dangles in the air for kitties to perform acrobatic somersaults.

If any one wants to share cat toy wacky creations and pics, vids would be most excellent for a Sunday afternoon

Re: Chase the leaf...

Great idea! Sometimes the wind blows the leaves in when the front door is open and Leo likes to eat them

Re: Chase the leaf...

now need to find some crispy leaves all a bit damp and misty here today. My Timmy used to spend ages chasing the leaves around the back garden when it was windy

Re: Chase the leaf...

I tried Buffie's homemade toy the other week but Bugs didnt figure it out at all

However my homemade toy it twisting two straws together and tying up so its a little straw twisted ring. Bugs LOVES this as is skitters across the kitchen floor making a lovely noise and he can pick it up and carry it around the house!! Be warned is a fiddly so and so to tie and very fustrating when its lost and master cat looks at you and demands another one to be made as quick as poss!!!

Lazymans Cat exerciser

what you need:
1x long peice of string/thin rope
1x cardboard loo roll tube.
A handfull of uncooked rice
Some sticky back plastic (yay!)

make small hole in the middle of cardboard tube.. push one end of string through it and then knot that end. Tape up one end of the tube. Put handfull of rice into tube. Tape up other end.
Now relax in your favourite spot holding the other end of the string and throw the tube. Drag it back with kitty chasing it.

Homemade expandable cat tunnels

what you need:
Beer boxes. Well i suppose any box will do but beer boxes are the most fun, expecially if they are full of beer when you get them.

Another one that came to mind as I just unearthed some from under the fridge,The cut off strips from Bozita or any other tetra pack. This was the only part of a pack of Bozita that was of interest to Mr M

KFM, yes straws are great, discovered this when older boy was teething and in the habit of chewing anything he could get his paws on, experimented with different kinds for flexibility and endurance, found some stripy ones with the bendy flex you can extend up the top, anyway 2 years later with a new kitty, straws have been doing the rounds

Think it's amazing with a bit of creative imagination, we can make our own cat toys to suit, goodness knows how much I've spent on commercial stuff up to date and I still get sucked into 'kitty toy land' lol
