Automatic litter trays

Hi,

We have a brand new covered litter tray with charcoal filter and are using catsan litter.

IT STINKS!!!

We have been looking for an automatic litter tray because we sometimes go away for the weekend and whilst our neigbour will happily pop in and feed the cats, asking them to deal with the tray would be a request byond the call of duty.

We are hoping that the fully automatic ones scoop the poop and hide it away trapping the smells.

Is that so?

Does anyone have a fully automatic tray and which one can you recommend?

Thanks in anticipation.
Bryan

Re: Automatic litter trays

cant believe any would hide the poo discreetly with no pongs, this is cat poo we are talking about here!! the only way to stop the stink is to bag it before it hits the bottom and bin it outside.

Re: Automatic litter trays

Not heard of one that does that! I think they need some kind of human interaction. Mine has a charcoal filter which helps to get rid of the smell.

Re: Automatic litter trays

My friend had two of those trays. They are very unattractive and very difficult to clean. You have to used very fine clumping litter with them as well. The mess on the pronged bits if you happen to have a couple of Mr Whippy deposits to deal with eeeuuuwwww not pleasant

I would look at changing your litter if you are getting that much smell from it, thats not really right if its being cleaned out regularly. I get zero wee smells from mine, even when I get in a night after being at work all day, there is no wee smell. No poo smell either come to that, unless there is fresh present left on top without being covered.
